If the "Good Ol' Days" was the Mike Sherman era.. we are in deep trouble with some of our fan members in Packerland.

Did we make the playoffs.. yep.. did we get embarrassed in the playoffs by teams like Atlanta in Green Bay? By George we certainly did.

I liked Mike Sherman the person, and alot of Mike Sherman the on field coach... but Mike Sherman the GM was stretched thin and over his head in terms of experience. Also I think he didn't play on a level playing field with his assistant coaches..

But the Mike Sherman era definitely wasn't laced in Gold.

Basically what you're saying is that two straight years without a playoff win = grounds for firing.

1 playoff appearence in 5 years is what it would be.

Not only that but if we really tank it this year like 6-10 you will be in year 5 with a questionable roster. You need to build up to the big finale. Going backwards from a NFC Championship game when you have a different QB leads one to believe you are declining.

With 3 years of steady and impressive improvement in his first three years here (4-12, 8-8, 13-3), what you're saying is that one losing year after that, with a new QB, puts the entire coaching/management staff on "the bubble".

If you choose to ignore that improvement, then you should also choose to ignore the records for those years. So it boils down to, "2 years of no playoffs = completely rehaul the entire staff." And btw, I have yet to hear even a remotely decent suggestion for who should replace our coaching staff and GM.

It's a non-issue anyway. We are going to have a very good year and people who call for the firing of MM/TT any time something bad happens will have to wait another 2 years at least before they are stirred to the surface again.

Did he have more success as a GM? Or was the effect of his mistakes cushioned by having the solid core of talent he inherited from his predecessors? I swear, a lot of people here are completely incapable of multifactorial analysis, and they oversimplify everything.

So I have a question for all you people calling for the heads of this administration: What is the minimum standard that is acceptable to you? A quick glance at NFL history reveals that MOST teams don't get to the playoffs more than once every five years. Does that mean teams should have a constant revolving door of management for this reason?

I call bullshit.

Here comes the standard response about the Packers not being like the 31 other NFL franchises, and we need to demand excellence every year. Too bad we don't feel that way about supporting our team.

Mass, I hate that lame excuse for an argument as much as you do. The Packers are an NFL franchise -- period. Nothing more and nothing less. There's nothing inherently special about it that entitles Packers fans to greater levels of success than that enjoyed by any other team that has reasonably intelligent leadership (Detroit and Oakland do not qualify).

Well non i guess that means we shouldn't plan on the playoffs then for what another 3 years? 😛 I think we can MM after this year and bring in a billacheat assistant and then we bring in there gm and we will be set 🙂
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Yeah, we're special because we don't have some greedy SOB owner and we are in the smallest professional sports franchise city in the country, and maybe a little because of our history, but that's it.

You didn't answer my question, Hazer. Instead you threw out a red herring.
