The Miami Dolphins are such an eye-popping outlier on this chart that it practically beggars the imagination. They have bet the house on an immediate turnaround. If there aren't radical improvements over the next season—or at most two—heads are going to roll and the streets will run red in Miami.

As for the Packers, they're going to have to make strides as a unit, because Gutekunst doesn't have a lot of resources at his disposal to make another quantum leap in talent this offseason.

I agree that the sky is the limit for Miami, but when you've gone in the way they have, trading away all your credible talent for cap space and picks, you either double up or go bust. I can't see any fanbase or ownership group giving this management and coaching staff more than two or three seasons to right the ship. Producing nine wins this season might be the minimum they have to do to save their jobs.

I like the moves they've made, but they're undeniably high risk, high reward.

Then again, maybe Ross is an exceptionally patient owner with a five-year time horizon. I sincerely doubt it, though. He's got way too much money and bad PR on the line.

FA- I don't see Gute going after a first tier player. One-maybe and one or two 2nd tier types.

Draft- At pick 30 Gute cannot be position focused. That's a recipe for disaster. BPA all the way. Otherwise 2-3 years down the road you could end up with nothin'. Gute could possibly move up but the 30th pick of subsequent rounds doesn't offer much fire power.

The third way to improve along with FA and draft is 2nd and 3rd year player development. Savage and Jenkins are already good but that doesn't mean they can't get even better, Players like Gary, Keke, Lazard, Brown, and, Sternberger taking a step forward would be great.

The one I'm hoping for to see the most improvement without going outside the building is Sternberger. Loved his attitude and the ability he showed in areas not considered to be his strenths. A shame he missed so much of the season as I suspect he would have contributed much more in the passing game towards the end of the year. If he makes the 2nd year leap it's as huge for the offense as finding a good #2 wr.

I am pretty sure we will have more money than this shortly. I think we will be relieving ourselves of Graham and Taylor's salary. Would not be surprised if Linsley is gone as well and we save that $8M. We dump those guys and we are up over $50M in salary cap space with only the need to find a starting C.

dfosterf (25-Jul) : It's my one day deal complaint dept. on shareholder meeting day
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Probably a homer access credential intimidation kinda thing
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Meathead "journalists" skip this, concentrating on operational revenue when convenient. They switch when net revenue is more favorable.
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Resulting in an actual drop of net revenue of 12.5%. She is from Minnesota. Just sayin'
