Considering some NFL guards are converted tight ends, is it possible that a tight end could step into the guard position for spot duty? I don't know if Green Bay has anyone large enough to accomplish such a feat, but it wouldn't surprise me if there were a few monsters in the league who were versatile enough to fill in on the line.

If it was a TE, then probably Lewis? ... though might be a DL like someone else stated.

I missed it, what NFL guards are converted tight ends and when did they convert....junior high?

Should an emergency arise, I think you would be more likely to see:
• if a OT was hurt, the TE would slide into tackle (if the LT was hurt, the RT would slide to LT and TE would play RT
  • if a guard was hurt, the RT would slide into guard
Also, per the article, I think it is far more likely you would see a DT moved over than a TE moved in.
  • I also disagree with Beast regarding Taylor's resume, he had half a good season IMO and a turnstile much of the rest of the time. Jenkins IMO is a huge upgrade irrespective of the offense being run or run pass percentage....and he is only getting better. I would be a shiny new dime Taylor will not be back.

Turner vs. McCray is a good upgrade as well, but, as previously posted, I think we need more out of him for the price. Further, I think that having him pull and trap some would accentuate his athleticism which is one of his strengths.

I can't think of anyone offhand. I just remember that the last time I watched the Combine, the commentators were discussing some OG candidates who had played TE in college. They mentioned that there was a trend toward taller, leaner, faster, more athletic guards in the league. I don't know how much longevity any of the candidates has managed to find in the pros.

Former Packers C/OT J.C. Tretter was a TE his first two years in college?

OT Jason Spriggs was a TE in highschool and sounds like some recruited him as such.

Lane Johnson, Alejandro Villanueva, Duane Brown, all started at TE before switching to OT?
