Foster.. not pinning the sacks on the line backers.. I got a little off topic.. more or less responding to my frustration of watching this staff remain static week after week as we are getting our asses handed to us on a regular basis.
Over the course of the last 5 months, I have become increasingly frustrated in the lack of growth in areas on this team.. watching Poppinga consistently overrun or take a bad angle.. watching Hawk play steady but non impact ball.. watching Barnett unable to pry himself off a block time after freaking time. Chillar is playing the best of that group period, developed elsewhere.. hmmm wonder if that is a factor?
Hawk flashed improvement early this season, then was injuried.. is he still.. but regardless we have added talented players to that corps only to seen them remain in a state of unpolished players..
Maybe I expect to much.. like the ability for the group to consistently cover a tight end.. like other teams seem to be able to do.. or knife a gap and plug a running lane consistently.. or once in a while get home on a blitz stunt...
I hammered the offensive line to death.. it is too early on a cold Friday to spout off endlessly on the lack of growth there.
I have been enamored with the growth from within talk and keeping our own.. but for that to be truly effective, you have to have growth across the entire roster for that premise to hold value... IMO.. there are areas that aren't growing..
On the sack numbers and pressure, at least there you can point to injuries and reduced roster numbers from last year and make an argument stick...
