Id say its a bit of both but mostly on the coaches. What happened to the Cwoodsen blitzes? He was tearin it up during the preseason.. I think he had 2 sacks against the cards. I know it was just preseason but if it worked then why not try it now? I can only think of 1 time where they sent Woodsen on a blitz.

Good point. I had forgotten all about him blitzing until you mentioned it.

Woody is still blitzing. Only now is getting blocked. We did it against MN and Brett killed us for about 30 yard pass. Get away from the 2 man front and let the big guys do what they are paid for. Jenkins,Jolly,Raji should be able to eat up any 5 Olineman. Leaving a mismatch for Kampman.

I voted for talent though I don't think it is solely a talent issue. Play calling is an important part but the cream of the crop rises to the top. Good play makers make things happen and we aren't seeing alot of that.

I think it is growing pains with the 3-4. Hopefully, we'll get some guys in there to pressure the QB. Despite the 8sec given to Brent Favabean, our defense as a unit did their job keeping Adrian Peterson a non-factor and produced a turnover besides. They are doing well, pass rush will only make them better.

Last year is last year, and cannot really compare with the scheme this year. So just looking at this year, what I think is the problem is the alignment being used. We are in a 2 Down look way to often. The entire concept of the 3-4 is the line taking up block for the lbers.

We are not doing that because we are dropping a dlineman the majority of the game. Multiple times dropping to 1.

The Packers are on pace for 27 sacks. Same low number as last year. I thought we addressed this in the off season? Why similar results?

When your pass rush is THIS bad, it is just more than one reason.

I think enough talent is present to at least be a decent pass rushing team, but it just isn't getting utilized. On top of that, the players have to get home. Against the Vikings, Chillar was 0-5 and Barnett was 0-6 when rushing. What made the Bears game stand out was that we won the individual match-ups. Not doing that enough this time around, in addition to less than stellar coaching all around.

Maybe it's just a mental block, like our guys had against Dallas in the 90s. I like our D, we're leading the league in turnover ratio. (Not to jinx us.)
We were actually starting to get to Favre a bit there in the second half. Giving them the ball at midfield everytime just killed us, though. That's on the offense.

Combination. I don't think you can stick on Mike McCarthy or Ted Thompson. Its both of them. The talent Ted Thompson has given him isn't "great" but its not bad either. And Mike McCarthy has done a decent job at coaching but then again not great.

I think really good talented players make up for coaching sometimes (FOR EXAMPLE - CHILLY - though I think Chilly is also the GM there). And vice versa but in this situation both have failed in this regard.

We've got 4-3 players, playing the 3-4. The turnover will come with time. I still like the way this defense has played. Could they be better? Sure. Have they cost us a game yet? I don't think so.

Really, we have the Dline for the 3-4 now. 1 OLB in Matthews. I think we would be better off getting what we can for Kampman and filling that with another 3-4 player. ILB isn't bad. But can always use a Ray Lewis type. CB we could use 1 more, and a dependable SS.

I don't think starter wise we are far from a great 3-4 D.
