Get ready, Canada — it looks like the Packers are coming. Slowly but surely, plans are coming together for the Green Bay Packers ’ third preseason game in 2019, a contest that will be against the Oakland Raiders . The location of this game remains in question, but as of Thursday morning we have some new information suggesting that the plans are nearing completion.
Previously, Packers team president Mark Murphy said at the NFL’s Annual Meeting in March that the two sites under consideration for the game were in Canada : either Winnipeg, Manitoba or a site in Saskatchewan, likely in the city of Regina where the CFL’s Roughriders play. This morning, however, Murphy indicated in an interview with ESPN Radio’s Wilde and Tausch  that Winnipeg is the selection, and that details are being finalized.
The Packers have not played in a game outside of the United States in over two decades, and they have only done so twice in the team’s history. Both games came in the late 1990s, as they played a 1997 preseason game against the Buffalo Bills  in Toronto then followed that up with a contest against the Kansas City Chiefs  in Tokyo, Japan.
Packers fans would not be losing out on a home game, however, as two of the team’s other exhibition contests in 2019 are at Lambeau Field. The Packers will open the preseason slate against the Houston Texans  before closing training camp with a date against the Kansas City Chiefs. However, Murphy said that Lambeau would be the backup plan if the Winnipeg deal falls through, which would give Green Bay a highly unusual third preseason game at home.
For now, Packers fans in the general vicinity of Winnipeg can start getting excited about seeing their team come to town in August.

Hope this comes to be. Not that Winnipeg is the nicest of tourist attractions in Canada, but Winnipeg are great football fans. Before moving to Ottawa I was a Winnipeg Blue Bomber fan growing up. Former Packer OC Tom Clements won a Grey Cup with the Bombers.

It would be sweet for the fans there to have a chance to actually see a game.
Hopefully it all comes together for them!

I've never seen a QB (maybe Peyton in his best years) dominate a league like Warren Moon and Doug Flutie did the CFL. As a QB fan these guys were amazing.
