Yeah. It's retarded.

We'll see how their defense plays without those two manimals.

NFL SUSPENDS SIX PLAYERS
Posted by Michael David Smith on December 2, 2008, 5:06 p.m.

The NFL has suspended at least six players for using a supplement with a banned ingredient.

The players appealed the suspensions and said the league should have warned them that the banned substance, bumetanide, was in the over-the-counter supplement StarCaps. But those appeals were denied.

ESPN is reporting that the six players include Minnesota Vikings defensive tackles Kevin Williams and Pat Williams and three members of the New Orleans Saints.

According to ESPN, Falcons defensive tackle Grady Jackson avoided suspension.

Absolutely, completely, unequivocally ridiculous and unfair. The commish is being quite arbitrary in this instance, and overly heavy-handed. Not just.

Well, I did go over and look at P.P.O.

Looks like one of the Williams' boys is planning to have his lawyers go into federal court and get an injunction in order to continue to play for the rest of the season. This will make him and Vikes real popular with the commish, I'm sure. On a bright note, P.P.O. has about 8500 barristers to assist the Williams brothers...those that don't follow that forum just need to know that thanks to the character, or lack thereof, of some of the Williams' boys teammates, those purple people are as well- versed in the legal system and it's various wranglings and manipulations as they are in any football game or team.

Edit--- I think it really is a crappy deal, but OMG, my imagination isn't good enough to plumb the depths of conspiracy theories, anger, etc. that will emanate from purple land if the suspensions hold up, AND the Vikes miss the playoffs....PolarGrizz--- that would answer your karma gut feeling you had down in the back alley, for example. :thumbleft: Right karma, wrong team. :pottytrain2:

Oh, btw.... from PFT---a little earlier:

WILF OPTIMISTIC

Posted by Michael David Smith on December 2, 2008, 1:53 p.m.
Several NFL players are awaiting word today on the appeals of their four-game suspensions for taking a supplement that had an ingredient on the NFLs banned substances list.

Two of those players are among the most important players on the Minnesota Vikings, defensive tackles Pat Williams and Kevin Williams. And the owner of the Vikings thinks both Williamses have a good chance of winning their appeals.

We presented our case, Vikings owner Zygi Wilf said in an interview with KFAN-AM 1130 today, per Sean Jensen of the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Were very optimistic things will turn out the way we want.

Its not clear whether Wilf is saying that because he has inside information or simply because hes an optimist, but we should know for sure whether Williams and Williams are suspended by the end of the day."

Interesting.

Yeah, there are some hardcore conspiracy theorists over in PP.O right now. Which is pretty sad and funny all at the same time.

I, personally, want to know why the suspensions. It certainly looks like the league and StarCaps are the ones at fault here, not the players. If they (the NFL) would just come out and explain their stance, maybe it would clear any sort of confusion. Hell, it might even make sense as far as the reasoning behind the suspensions.

The Viking issued a statement saying they were very disappointed in the NFLs decision.

According to NFL.com, the leagues substance policy states that the use of so-called blocking or masking agents, including diuretics and water pills, is prohibited and that a positive test will not be excused because it results from the use of a dietary supplement that unknowingly contained a banned substance.

When it announced the suspensions, the NFL reiterated the section of its policy that reads:

You and you alone are responsible for what goes into your body. Claiming that you used only legally available nutritional supplements will not help you in an appeal. Even if they are bought over-the-counter from a known establishment, there is currently no way to be sure that they contain the ingredients listed on the packaging or have not been tainted with prohibited substances

If you take these products, you do so AT YOUR OWN RISK! For your own health and success in the league, we strongly encourage you to avoid the use of supplements altogether, or at the very least to be extremely careful about what you choose to take."

The policy is crystal clear. The fairness of it is debatable, imo.
