Still pay him 11 million by cutting, but adds 3+ to current cap.

I was wondering if the $3M was worth the cut. I guess it is to Gute. I was thinking for $3M they might just keep him on a pitch count this year to see if he could stay healthy and cut him next year.

I figured they would hang on to him for one more year to avoid needing to bring in a lot of bodies and perform well since it would be given he would be playing for a new contract somewhere else.

Looks to me like Gute is taking his job seriously. He’s going for the gold!

Of all the words of tongue and pen, the saddest are these...it might have been.

Obviously there won't be any tag days for Perry, but when healthy, he was, IMO terrific. Its more than just sacks statistics, it setting an edge and collapsing the pocket from the outside in, and he was very good at those when healthy....alas.

I like Perry. With his injuries it just didn't work out so well.
