I didn’t dehumanize anybody.
And in today’s world, there is plenty to fear. It’s not “preying” on people to bring up that it’s real, and SHOULD bring fear.
All I am asking for is common sense approaches to illegals trying to enter the United States. Not protecting our borders doesn’t just let good decent people in here, it allows seriously evil people and even terrorists into America.
In the past, you could reason with your enemies. You can’t reason with people that think it’s an “honor” to die killing as many Americans as they can.

Anti gun people are ones that “prey” on people to produce fear. There are enough gun laws. Making gun laws ONLY affects people that obey the law. Bad people will ALWAYS have the black market to obtain guns. All new gun laws do is make people “feel good”. That don’t stop crime one bit.
Do you honestly believe that criminals will say “oh my! There are new guns laws! I haven’t obeyed any laws up to now, but THIS one I’ll obey!”
If you believe that, you are naive.

What we really need is harsher penalties when someone uses a gun to commit a crime. Today you can use a gun and be back out on the street to commit even more violent crimes. Most bad guys that commit crimes with guns are repeat offenders that should have never been back out on the street in the first place. Lock them up and throw away the key! THAT would deter crime. It’s our so called “justice system” that has dropped the ball too many times to count. Hold judges accountable when a violent offender gets out of prison and commits more crimes. No more “slap on the wrist” punishment.
Do the crime, do SERIOUS time.

I get it. I understand the premise too. But remember that saying that laws only work for people who obey the law opens up another argument: Why have any laws for anything?

It's very true that the justice system is a sham. It's essentially out of control. It's an issue that I think both sides of the political spectrum, and everyone in between, can come together on. Violent crime should be top priority for incarceration. Non-violent crime that cannot be directly linked to an event of violence should be fined and ordered to community service.

What we need is stricter enforcement of the laws we already have, and bigger penalties if you decide to break those laws.
There are already laws that say you can’t rob a 24hour store or do a drive by shooting, right? Problem is, there are evil people that don’t give a damn about those laws and do whatever THEY want to do. No respect for others or human life. So would making more laws stop these crimes, or even slow them down? No.
You have to attack those committing those crimes if you want to actually lower the violent crime rate.
I’ve been a gun owner for 45 years and haven’t used a gun to commit a crime. You have to target the people that commit the crimes to actually make a difference.
Otherwise it’s just feel good and meaningless .

You aren't seeing the bigger picture here. This is not about good guys with guns. Never has been. Go back to my initial post and the premise therein. It's about the manufacturers and NRA; those who will undermine the laws on the books and lobby to remove them. Follow the money. I'm glad you are a proud and lawful owner, so is the majority of my family. I support them and support you. But this isn't about that. It's about the criminals in our government, the criminal lobbyists, and those who use them to line their pockets and increase their power. It's cronyism under a mask of self defense.

.... I understand wanting to protect Americans first and foremost and a strong border is part of that. But those who will dehumanize immigrants are preying on the most susceptible of us to create the fear of the other. Be wary.

I believe you 'understand' wanting to protect Americans, but I don't believe you vote for politicians who are willing to put that protection into action. Further, to your other points.
- Perhaps you should ask Kate Steinle's parents about dehumanizing immigrants. She was dehumanized in a brutal way by one of these scum.
https://www.gao.gov/products/GAO-11-187 . Gee you think building a wall would give a strong ROI?!?!?!?
- Perhaps you should visit some border towns and talk to the hospital administrators about the human cost to our citizens and how these towns are being bankrupted.

Most of the bloggers on these thread sit up north and are are clueless about the cost to our citizens of illegal immigration. They simply bark like clapping seals the latest liberal talking points.

The selective and shortsighted outrage in this country is pathetic and appalling.

Porforis, so your answer is that we should just let anyone in? Not have any checks and balances to keep bad people out?

Not to say that this means we should just let them in

And here I thought I framed my statements in a way that tried to see both sides. But I'm just an animal spewing talking points. There's also an assumption that I don't know how much unnecessary incarceration costs. I do and I promise I'm (almost) just as outraged. Hey, I'm all for deporting anyone who is committing any crime by those who have not going through the process of gaining citizenship (which is a whole 'nother topic, in terms of clusterfucks of systems in the US). That being said, why are you mad at me and liberals? I bet Donald Trump has hired way more illegal immigrants for his buildings and the like than any of us could ever dream of.

D,
My apologies for my zealousness. I don’t mean to personalize this discussion. But I get extremely frustrated with the left in the moronic resistance to a border wall.
A country without Borders is not a country. I am all for humanitarian aid but as others have rightly pointed out the best humanitarian aid is addressed to and with the goal of keeping people where they are as opposed to having them immigrate to the United States.
Invariably, the people who advocate open borders are not the ones paying the taxes for the cost of immigration. They are big businesses who want cheaper labor, or people in the democrat voting block that one more illiterate and dependent voters

Porfiris, I apologize if you think I was trying to treat you rudely. I certainly did not intend to do that.
In a thread like this, it can be VERY hard to get the points trying to be made by just words on a screen. Face to face would be SOOO much easier, and more difficult to be misunderstood.

My main point has been that we need to protect our borders, and control whoever tries to get into this country, reguardless of if they seem to have a family or not. Yes, some are trying to escape a bad life. But we can’t just let huge amounts of people to come in illegally. Do it legally and i have no problem with it.
As was already said, border towns are being ravaged because of people pouring into their towns. We don’t see the damage first hand because we live far away from those people that actually have to deal with it daily.

Again, I promise you I meant no disrespect.

You know what I like? People exchanging ideas and opinions without name calling. Or if they did, they take a step back in their next post. What a far cry from what we have witnessed over the past few years. Well done. I will lobby Zero and see if I can get your next dues payment cut in half. Just don't hold me to that.

Martha Careful (3h) : some of those people are smarter than you zero. However Pete Carroll is not
Mucky Tundra (7h) : Rude!

Zero2Cool (11h) : Raiders hired someone from the elderly home.
dfosterf (14h) : I'm going with a combination of the two.
beast (15h) : Either the Cowboys have no idea what they're doing, or they're targeting their former OC, currently the Eagles OC
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.
beast (23-Jan) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you
wpr (22-Jan) : Z, glad you are feeling better.
wpr (22-Jan) : My son and D-I-L work for UM. It's a way to pick on them.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (22-Jan) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
