Before last season, McCarthy said his back-up OL was the best he’s ever had. We all thought BS; but McCray, Murphy, Patrick and Spriggs was a helleva 2nd string OL. It’s hard to believe, but the fan is not privy to ALL the info.
I like it. Randall can be substantially replaced by a HEALTHY Devon House-type for 3-4M. And how much better is he than Rollins, Hawkins or Pipkins after they take their jump? And Nerd talked about Waters; there's a reason he's been kept around for 2 years. It’s obvious GB wasn’t going to pick-up Randall's 5th yr. I'd rather have Randell; but they'd have to dump one of those young CBs, who might be the next Tramon.
The move freed up .35M in cap; almost .6K if Hundley is cut. And it freed up the cap space that would have otherwise gone to a vet QB back-up.
Swapping our regular picks, we move up half a round in 4 and 5 [if we swapped our comp picks, we move up a whole round in each] and we netted the coveted 1st pick on day 3.
Those trashing Kizer, not sure if you realize that Kizer played for the BROWNS last year. What would Rodgers’ stats have been? I thought he played a nice game for a rookie against us.
In first year Goff, 0-7, QBR 18.9; Wentz 7-9 QBR 49.4; Bortles 3-10 QBR 26.7; Derek Carr had QBR of 40 and 41 his first 2 years; [Kizer QBR =26.7]. He will be a lot better in year 2 and w/ 15 starts he’s got more experience than Hundley.
One scary thing: if the Browns, who know him best, thought he was capable of a solid jump to yr 2, why’d they dump him? Well, they’re taking a QB at 1 or 4 [If they don’t, this is bad news for us] and they got Taylor as their vet. There is not enough practice time to develop 2 QBs, so Kizer was going into mothballs. If they can get a CB, who'll be pretty good if he pulls his head out of his arse, why not trade Kizer.
Anyone remember the last 2nd rnd QB GB traded for after having a dismal rookie season? Rumors abounded that GB had their eye on Kizer last year like Daddy Wolf had his eye on another QB a few years back.
I like it.
