My memory may be a bit hazy, but wasn't Hydes asking price way out of proportion to what he'd done in GB (a couple years as a solid backup/ST guy+one real good year as a #3(?) S) and his physical attributes (I seem to remember a general complaint heard round the web was he was a little on the slow side to be a full time starter)?

I think if we had given him the money he got from the Bills many of those fans complaining now that we didn't keep him would have hit the roof for paying him that much.
At the time I wish we would have resigned him simply because of his versatility but it didn't kill me that he got away. Besides that it seems Buffalo is using him in a position that the Packers weren't so that may have contributed to his success. There is no guarantee that had the Packers kept him (or Hayward for that matter) that they would have developed into the players they have become with their new teams.
It doesn't bother me at all that these players have found success elsewhere. In fact I am happy for them. In a way it a feather in the cap of the guy who drafted them because it kind of proves that he wasn't wrong about their talent and that maybe they just weren't utilized correctly.
