But last week, Mike opened up the offense for him.

Hundley has multiple problems... though it's getting better most weeks, but when he gets rattle he reverts back...
Hundley does not naturally
1) look down field,
2) feel comfortable in the pocket
3) Step into the pocket
4) trust his protection
It seems to be simply as this, when Hundley feels comfortable, he can move the ball. But when Hundley feels uncomfortable, he screws up and becomes more uncomfortable, which leads to more screw ups and this is a continual downward spiral... that once Hundley is in, he can't seem to get out of.
Kirk Cousins had a similar problem in that once he had a big screwed up, he'd want to redeem himself and would do something high risk and usually stupid... which lead to an even bigger mistake. Redskins got him out of that (in the short term) by running the ball 2 or 3 times after his mistake, so he could cool off and not make the second big screw up. Of course, Cousins didn't have the pocket trust problems, and had a better OL and running game than Hundley does at the moment as well.
