What do you feel about this? What are your thoughts?

Brett Hundley hasn’t been the answer for Mike McCarthy. (Mike Roemer/AP)
Monday night utterly clarified the direction of the Green Bay Packers’ season without Aaron Rodgers. Playing at home, coming off a bye and facing their historical doormat, the Packers held favorable conditions to make a stand. In response, they crumbled. They lost to the Detroit Lions, 30-17, only after a cosmetic, final-second touchdown embroidered the final score.

Backup quarterback Brett Hundley, it can now be definitively stated, is not saving Green Bay. Since Rodgers suffered a broken collarbone in the first quarter of Week 6, opponents have outscored the Packers, 79-44, with two of three games at Lambeau Field. A bye week full of first-team practice reps for Hundley provided no evident regrouping. Take away Green Bay’s meaningless, 75-yard drive in the final 100 seconds, and the Packers gained only 236 yards Monday night.

Coach Mike McCarthy, so defiant about the Packers’ prospects and quarterback situation after Rodgers’s injury, now sits at 4-4 and in third place in the NFC North. The playoffs seem like a distant dream. When Rodgers went down, so did the Packers’ season.

That being said, I wouldn't want anyone to purposely do negative, because things can carry over from one season to the next. Favre's last two years Packers years involved going 4-8 ... then 4 straight wins to end the season which seemed that fight seemed to carry over and they went 13-3.

Where if you purposely tank, like the Bucs reportedly might have done to lock up their QB's draft pick... they seem to tank some other times... of course maybe that's just bad play and other reasons, because I don't really pay attention to the Bucs.

So if you're not going to make the playoffs, fight hard... and if you lose a game, so what, you're not going to be in the playoffs anyways.

I don't know if I would say tank as in lose on purpose. I would like to see all the younger players get more game time, game experience. Take the rest of the season as a full go experience gaining opportunity and wherever the cards fall, they fall.

IF the score is 12- 14 and we are on the 10 yard line ... I would kick the FG, not run the ball up the middle four times to run the clock out to secure a loss. That to me is tanking. Hell no.

I say put the young guys in and use players like Mike Daniels, Clay Matthews as sparingly as possible. Keep them fresh, but flip their snap counts. The more experience we get, the better our team will be.

I wouldn't want them to try and lose, I want them all to play their hardest and give it their all. The coaches could experiment more though. Try things on offense and defense they normally wouldn't just to see how it works. Never know what they might discover. Maybe Dom can luck into a way to cover the middle of the field. Maybe Mike can luck into being able to run the ball or quick pass plays.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

No, but professionals sometimes make the strategic decision to retreat, which can look an awful lot like losing on purpose.

You know, it really doesn't matter if they're trying to tank or not...they're tanking either way.

It's ironic that they're trying their best to win but will end up doing what this article suggests by default.

Oh, I get it...much like Ted loves his comp picks...I'm guessing he was loving the idea of having no viable backup QB so should 12 ever get injured again, he would get to pick higher in the draft or be able to trade down with more valuable picks than ones nearer 32 in each round. Genius!

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."
