Top 5 Undrafted Free Agents Most Likely to Make the Roster

The third NFL preseason game is known as the most important one because the starters usually get to play an extended amount of time.

That isn't great news for undrafted free agents who are already long-shots to make the 53-man roster.

With shortened training camps due to the lockout, undrafted free agents have had a short time to make impressions.

By August 30, the rosters must be shaved down to 80 players. After that, the players will have only a short time to make an impression as the roster gets cut down to 53 players on Sept. 5.

That said, it seems like Ted Thompson always finds a diamond in the rough, an unheralded player who ends up making the roster.

Here are the Green Bay Packers' top five candidates for this year's diamond in the rough.

5. Ray Dominguez, OL (Arkansas)
4. M.D. Jennings, S (Arkansas State)
3. Tori Gurley, WR (South Carolina)
2. Vic So'oto, OLB (BYU)
1. Jamari Lattimore, OLB (Middle Tennessee State)

Lattimore is under sized. He can easily be kept on the PS. So'oto (I hate the ' in his name and may leave it off in the future if he makes the team.) has the size they are looking for from a LB. The only way they both make the team is if Zombo ends up on IR.

There are too many other options (both WR and TE) for Gurley to make it.

Solid camp for Jennings not spectacular. He has a chance. I don't see him getting the nod. It takes more than recovering the onsides kick to make the team.

Dominguez has not shown enough to warrant a slot on the 53 man team. He can be stashed on the PS. He has a ways to go before he will be ready. Most teams can't afford to use a roster spot for a player that is 2-3 away from being ready.

Of these 5 my vote goes to Sooto. no '.
