The Packers have parted ways with running back James Starks. Starks did not play in the team's final three regular season games or their three playoff contests after suffering a concussion in a mid-December car accident. The NFL's transaction report brought word of Starks' removal from the Packers roster and it came with a non-football...

James Starks was a 6th round draft pick who was a big piece of The Packers drive to The Super Bowl in 2010.
He was a nice change of pace when Eddie was running strong.
When Eddie went down, he picked up the slack.
2016 just wasn't a good year, injuries and then getting into the car wreck spelled the end for James in Green Bay.

Like John Kuhn last year, there will be a team who will be in need of a veteran running back next year, hopefully James can go elsewhere and be productive.

I wish him well.

Tell me who was offering him anywhere near that kind of money? So, why did we have to offer him that contract? Who was going to pay anything near it? Who?

I loved James Starks back in the day, but this is NOW. It doesn't matter what James did in 2010...this is about today...and the today that he got his big contract was a today far removed from him being a good player.

You don't pay a guy 2.25 million for...THAT. His concussion was much later in the season. He was brutal all year and should've never been given the money. He exemplifies the good but not good enough we always seem to end up with around here.

So, PFWT and Buck think that was a good contract? Good to know.

Umm, you might want to rethink your answer on cap space "gained". LOL.

Michael Rodney ripped this contract when it was handed out to Starks and rightfully so. It was a HUGE overpay and completely unnecessary. ...but...that's our Ted!

It does matter what happens. I said Julius Peppers was a great move...because I said I wanted Peppers to sign before he ever did. There are things I like. Not much...but some. I like Kentrell Brice.

Overall Ted is a vanilla GM for a team that needs a different flavor than the same old same old, but keep hammering me to stay safe in the bubble that says things are just great here. You never have to think if you just lambast me.

Why was it a good contract? Talk! Tell me. You can't. All you can do is rip me for saying it was bad when it was bad. Really bad. You have PFWT saying it was a good move because if he wouldn't have been resigned we lose a warm body. Duh...at any position that's true, so lets overpay EVERYONE on the roster because if we kick one loose it will leave the roster short! My goodness...the lack of depth in thinking is mindboggling.
