Holy crap! Dorsey just traded to GB, KC's top 3 picks of 2017 and '18 drafts for a conditional 6th and the rights to James Starks' concussion.
This article makes a persuasive argument [though not as persuasive as the said trade would be]. A must read!
Dorsey is in last year of deal in KC and Reid is up after 2017; the Chiefs have only talked publicly about extending Reid.
Ballard, the Eliot Wolf of KC, was blocked or declined to interview with SF [conflicting reports]; but Rapoport tweeted Ballard made sure he remains in KC. So speculation is that Ballard thinks he's gonna be promoted sooner than later.
Wolf was supposedly stopped from interviewing with Lions last year; and allowed to interview with SF this year, even though GB's season is not over.
If these speculations are all true, it is very logical that Murphy made his choice and told Eliot where he stood and Dorsey did the same for KC.
Dorsey is now a proven commodity; I'd love the move. I loved the idea of Wolf too, but that was a bit more scary. I want Ted's brain removed and sustained, so Ted can make picks thousands of years into the future. Dorsey is a good stop gap until the Ted's brain thing can be worked out with 1265, science, Ted and Ted's family.
Dorsey came into KC in 2013 and let talent that signed for $140 million elsewhere walk out the door. So he's fearless.
He also did some stupid stuff in 2015, he accumulated some Cap space and splurged by signing Maclin [WAY overpaid]; oh, he was hailed as a genius for this and my thought was, what an ass, glad he went to KC." And he signed Tyvon Branch [total Bust], traded a 5th for Ben Grubbs [huge bust-though the deal was restructured to minimize hit as part of the trade], Fanaika [despicable bust].
He had a couple of moderate successes with Schwartz and Ron Parker..
But, I'm guessing by his action in 2016, he got that Schneider reckless aggressiveness wheeler dealer degenerate gambler crap out of his system. in 2015, to "go for it" he spent all kinds of $$$ 2 guards and 2 6th rounders are playing great. Though the deals for Fanaika and Grubbs looked great on paper and he was lauded, now he's saying what a dumbass I was, I lost a 5th. He said to himself, these 2015 moves not only made my team worse in 2015, it even cost me over 6M in dead money in '16. In 2017 1.1M in dead money!!! No doubt, if Dorsey jumps back in time machine he does it differently, he has learned that Ted's way is the only way!!! Free agency is the game of chump LOSERS.
And he sees the need of collecting draft picks, made nice trades with us [Davis-though it didn';t yield a pick], and AZ [Cooper]. Furled some brows when he resigned Fisher earlier this season; but the proof is in the puddin' Fisher has been pretty good, though maybe just a touch overpaid. He has signed more of those vet kinda back-ups than i [and Ted] would like; but I don't really know if he let youngsters go worth keeping to do this, if not, there's less harm. In GB he'll typically get the pick of the litter when it comes to UDFAs, so he'll need to cut back on this. And he made a nice deal for Aker [7th] from SF; like Ted did for Grant.
But, in spite of these UnTed-like reckless moves; his good drafting has over come his dumb moves and even traded out of 1st round in 2016 to collect picks. KC is extremely successful given its lack of a stud QB and many of KC's best players this year are on IR or hobbled [Charles, Houston, Bailey, Howard, Mauga, Johnson].
