Did we have an issue the second half of last year? I know we did early, but it seemed to work itself out.
This year has surely been a disappointment after late last year, that's for sure.

Actually yes we did... one week we could effectively run.. the next.. hmm not so much. Some of that feel at the feet of Mike McCarthy and bailing out of the run plays.. or if you believe some of the talk that we audiblied out of those plays..

Either way.. we couldn't week in and out run the ball with effective confidence, IMO.

Go back and look at the numbers.. they tell the story.

That could easily happen again, too.. (WE COULD GET A SUCCESSFUL STRING TOGETHER, or at least a week) Still doesn't fix the problem. We have so much talent in the talent positions that will not live to it's potential as long as the backbone of our offense is spineless. This must be fixed... I said it before and I'll say it again... even if it takes OUR ENTIRE DRAFT... AND SOME FA MOVES (I know this would never happen, but it ought to) The D is much easier fixed, even though they are getting run on...imo
I still have confidence in Bustin Justin for example... it's still early for the lad... get back to me at the end of the season for that rant.

Okay.. better than I remember.. I thought it was more up and down than it appears here.

Hmm 6 games of performance should take the heat off?

Can they do it though... I have said it before, yes they can.. just not consistently.

Not for this farm boy that expects more out of the hogs up front.

I want Jared Allen on his ass from now on. You got any numbers that would indicate that this will be happening? I want the Dallas Cowboys to look like they ran into a brick wall when they rush my quarterback. Same with the NY Giants. Give me some numbers that show that, I will STFU.

We need a better "0" line, sure. We need a line that wins battles more than loses them but I'm not looking for the best line in the history of the NFL.

Put a couple of guards out there that don't get shoved around would be a good enough start for me.

In the better coaching thread... On Monday, I named the two players we should get in the first two rounds. I named these players for what I think was my 50th time so far this year in this forum and others. (I have what you might call a strong opinion on the matter. )

Duke Robinson--- Oklahoma 6'5" 330 lbs. Guard 1st Round

Herman Johnson--- LSU 6'7" 349 lbs. Guard 2nd Round

I have not named any other players here, I have on another Packer forum (NOT that PF com one, I don't belong there) I will not rehash the others if we get these two, and would promise to shut up about the whole deal if we did...in short, I'd be thrilled and no longer so dizzy I cannot type in the frustration of it all no thanks to my heretofore good buddy pack93z who has personnaly whipped me into an ABSOLUTE FROTH this fine Wednesday.... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Actually these two probably would be attainable unless we do something like win out (trust me, I am o.k. with that). I think they have Robinson in the 15- 20 something of the first round and Johnson in the second.

My guess is you won't get this wish though as I doubt Thompson goes two guards with the first two picks. Not a knock on him. I doubt any team has ever taken two guards with their first and second round picks.

Generally guards go a little further down but I agree that bumping that up in our case may be a good move. Especially if Robinson is still there. He's supposedly far and away the best guard coming up.

There are so many good offensive tackles available (and will go in front of) Robinson that I think he will be there longer than many think. I just think these two in tandem would help us solve our o-line problem(s). I would bet we wind up with a DE or the most-hated (dependent upon what position) "best player available". If that turns out to be a quarterback, I comin' to Green Bay with a pitchfork in the carry-on baggage... I'll be wanting it readily available upon landing for quick and short work.

Thompson couldn't field a solid OL if you spotted him four solid OL.

That's coming from someone who trusts his moves, just not when it comes to the OL.
