I think this is a bullshit insinuation and one for which you owe a whole lot of people an apology -- especially after pointing out that there are plenty of folks who have a sincere objection to the custom.

Again, can anyone make a compelling argument for why we should play the national anthem before every game?

Seriously, if you want to show your appreciation for the sacrifices of this nation's veterans, vote for politicians who won't send our military personnel into pointless wars. Don't impugn the character of fellow citizens who happen not to find what they perceive as an empty ritual to be as meaningful as you do.

Nonstop....I owe no one an apology. You have a right to your opinion.
Too bad you don't give that kind of same respect to someone that doesn't agree with you.
Like I stated, it's a couple of minutes to show respect for our country/freedoms.
If that's too much time for you to waste, you don't have to stand for it or sing along.
You can take a bathroom break or get a beer during that horrible long time you have to wait while that stupid waste of time song is played.
Like Zero said, I also remember when people treated each other decent here.
It's a shame that those days are gone.
Just another show of how our culture has been rolling down hill for years now.
as my late father in law said, "it's a hooray for me, and F**K YOU world today."
He fought in WW2, and was shot 3 times.
So I will stand and show respect in his honor, and for my uncles and cousins that fought for our freedom.
