We have had a lot of discussion about needing a threat at the tight end position. When the Packers had a threat at tight end, Jermichael Finely, these same folks bitched that Finley wasn't putting up gaudy statistics and didn't seem to realize how valuable he was to the offense.

Look no further than the Patriots Rob Gronkowski to understand the value of a great tight end opening opportunities for an offense. Patriots have a who-the-hell-is-who group of receivers and the key to their success is the presence of Gronkowski. Finley, while no where near the level of Gronkowski, did the same thing for the Packers -- more talented -- receivers of Donald Driver, Greg Jennings, James Jones and Jordy Nelson.

I'm not trying to shame those who bitched about Finley, rather, credit them for realizing how valuable Finley was and how the Packers need someone of his caliber at tight end once again.

Speaking of shame, I was one of the blowhards who was duped by Richard Rodgers late season success and felt he would progress from year one to year two.

The next threat at tight end is not on the Packers roster at the moment. Do the Packers target one of the guys entering free agency or do you have a draft prospect that you feel would be a good fit?

when you have a Gronk, you can do things you can't do with 90% of the other TE in the league. When you have a Megatron, you can do things you can't do with 90% of the other WR in the league. When you have Rodgers or Brady you can do things you can't do with 90% of the other QBs.

Problem is, there is only one Gronk, and only a couple TE that even compare to him active in the League. The problem I see is not our TEs. It is the way they are being utilized. What percentage of the passes you see our TEs catching over the last couple years have been them releasing into the flat catching a short dump off from a Rodgers rollout. And every time there is a defender right there to make the hit, and the sideline right there if they break the tackle. there is nothing overly special about any of those TEs listed and if they were put in the same situations our TEs are, I would expect pretty much the same result. Look what happened to Graham when he was utilized poorly.

Chumura was nothing special as far as talent. But he was utilized well. We don't utilize R.Rodgers or Quarless well. I look at the patterns that opponents use with their TEs against our defense and seldom do I see us trying the same things against other teams. And it is apparent that other defenses have seen this as well because they are cheating their coverages towards McCarthy's trends.

I believe Dwayne Allen is a FA too. He is young and can block and stretch the field. Fleener is basically a WR.

Well I don't believe losing Graham has anything to do with Wilson's or the Seahawks level of play. The way the rest of the receivers have kicked in, I definitely wouldn't want to face them with Graham also.

I agree that we could use an upgrade at TE. But if you expect Gronk like production, it ain't gonna happen.

The thing with Gronk is Brady will throw a ball in a place where he knows it is a risk, but Gronk will win the battle for the ball every time or it will be incomplete. We have no player WR or TE that Rodgers trusts to do that with.

Over the last couple years, Rodgers has gotten away from it. I think he got use to looking and if they were not really open he would move on and if all else failed, he would scramble and one of the receivers would come open. He has don't it a few times with Jones this year and with cobb but not like he should.

Zero2Cool (6h) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (10h) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (10h) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (11h) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (11h) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (11h) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (11h) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (12h) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (12h) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (12h) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (12h) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (12h) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
    Zero2Cool (12h) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (12h) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (12h) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (12h) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (14h) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (14h) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (14h) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
    Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
    Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
    Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
    wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'
Mucky Tundra (8-Apr) : *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
    Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Spotting ball isn't changing, only measuring distance is, Which wasn't the issue.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : The spotting of the ball IS the issue. Not the chain gang.
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Will there be a tracker on the ball or something?
