If we had spent the 7 million we had left at the end of the season on an upgrade at MLB or 3rd WR or combination of both, we likely would have gone all the way also, even with Rodgers injured.

A big part of the implosion was Matthews not on the field the last 2 drives in regulation. A slight upgrade at ILB or WR wouldn't fix that. Unacceptably bad special teams play obviously played a big part in the loss.

The only other thing is the Rodgers INT on what he thought would be a free play. Unless he was way off base or should have seen a flag before releasing the ball, I don't think he can be faulted for that.

Or slightly better at any other position where if the packers would have made one play they probably could have won.

Woulda coulda shoulda. Can't point to one play and say yup, that boned us, and we wouldn't have been boned if it weren't for that one guy.

One exeption maybe being slocum

I'm not sure how one slight upgrade in one position could have prevented that complete team failure versus Seattle. The result of the game had nothing to do with talent level (the first half shows that quite clearly) and quite everything about coaching problems, specifically not being able to prevent this team from imploding once it starts going downhill. Everyone not named Mason Crosby was responsible for that loss to a notable degree.

Isn't the other side of the coin that he drafted most of these bums that he didn't extend? So, he's a good judge of talent years after the fact after he's saddled our franchise with draft picks who suck and aren't worthy of getting a new contract?

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

Thompson was able to correctly predict that these players would not live up to said contracts, and thus didn't shell out the money to retain them.

The flip side would be the players that Ted Thompson did overpay to retain, like AJ Hawk and Brad Jones, however I think this would be a much smaller list. Even if this was a long list, it would be outweighed by players who were worth their contracts like Aaron Rodgers, Jordy Nelson, Josh Sitton, etc.

It would also be interesting to go over all the free agents the Packer's were rumored to be interested in but didn't sign, who would or wouldn't have been worth it, for instance Stephen Jackson; however, without having more information (which players they really wanted and how much they were offering) that would be much more difficult to accurately put together.

TT's approach is to field a team with the least cost. The best players start on Offense or Defense. The remainder man the Special Teams. The Placekicker and Punter are very good, but they have narrow roles on Kickoffs and Returns. The rest who man the remainder are subject to inexperience on ST's as they were starters in college. IMO, the Packers need to find at least 2 High Quality "Gunners" that could strengthen and lead on ST's. Blocking and tackling machines that could raise the level of play.
Ted Thompson could find and hire such players if he had a mind to. Apparently there is cap money in the account. Linebackers are where, IMO, such players could be found. They need not be 1st or 2nd team starters, but specialist recruited to take and give physical punishment. Fast, strong, players that could open holes for Packer Return men and bust up returns of opposing teams.

I agree mostly with Teds approach. but I do feel he has missed now a couple opportunities where he could have made moves to give the team a better chance at the SB and failed to do so.

Ted Thompson works 1 way; 31 GMs work another. Out of 31 GMs show me one that TOOK a “couple opportunities” and made the odds better of winning a SB. Last year, 31GMs TOOK a "couple opportunities;" but only 1 in 31 actually won!!!!! So you want to point to Revis and Browner. But if Denver won, you’d point to Sanders, Ware, Ward and Talib. If Bears, you’d point to Allen, Houston, Mundy. If Ravens, you’d point to...you get the point.

1 of 31 odds is pretty BAD, but it’s even worse than that!!!! Theses “couple opportunities” that these 31 teams took in 2014 have hurt their odds of winning in 2015. THIS IS TRUE FOR ALL OF THEM...ALL! So it’s like these “couple opportunities” work 1 in 62 or 1 in 93 times.

Odds of winning SB are 1 in 32; if you make POs every year 1 in 12; w/ bye every year, 1 in 8; if you go to POs every year and get a bye for half 1 in 10. TT’s refusal to indulge in these “couple opportunities” put GB 3x to 9x better depending on how stupid the other GMs were.

If Ted Thompson had a worthwhile “opportunity” he would have taken it if in his control. And for that one guy you get that you think gets you closer to wining; there’s 4 failures, [two of which are miserable failures] that not only get you further away in the instant year; but set you much farther back in subsequent years. Ted Thompson knows the odds and is playing them to perfection.

He was fine for that game. It was the mental aspect that cost us. Hopefully that has been rectified.

Mucky Tundra (1h) : The Seattle Seahawks defeat the Chicago Bears 6-3. Jason Myers had 6 RBIs for Seattle while Cairo Santos had 3 RBI for Chicago
beast (2h) : Not nessarily, he might of been injured either way. He's playing about 50% of the games the last 4 years
Zero2Cool (8h) : If they'd been more patient with him, he'd be back already. Putting him out there vs Bears caused him to tweak it and here we are.
packerfanoutwest (8h) : well this is his last season with the PAck, book it
beast (10h) : Sounds like no Alexander (again), I'm wondering if his time with the Packers is done
Zero2Cool (16h) : Could ban beast and I still don't think anyone catches him.
Mucky Tundra (26-Dec) : Houston getting dog walked by Baltimore
packerfanoutwest (25-Dec) : Feliz Navidad!
Zero2Cool (25-Dec) : Merry Christmas!
beast (25-Dec) : Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
beast (24-Dec) : Sounds like no serious injuries from the Saints game and Jacobs and Watson should play in the Vikings game
packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : both games Watson missed, Packers won
Martha Careful (24-Dec) : I hope all of you have a Merry Christmas!
Mucky Tundra (24-Dec) : Oh I know about Jacobs, I just couldn't pass up an opportunity to mimic Zero lol
buckeyepackfan (24-Dec) : Jacobs was just sat down, Watson re-injured that knee that kept him out 1 game earlier
buckeyepackfan (24-Dec) : I needed .14 that's. .14 points for the whole 4th quarter to win and go to the SB. Lol
Mucky Tundra (24-Dec) : Jacobs gonna be OK???
Zero2Cool (24-Dec) : Watson gonna be OK???
packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : Inactives tonight for the Pack: Alexander- knee Bullard - ankle Williams - quad Walker -ankle Monk Heath
packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : No Jaire, but hopefully the front 7 destroys the line of scrimmage & forces Rattler into a few passes to McKinney.
packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : minny could be #1 seed and the Lions #5 seed
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : We'd have same Division and Conference records. Strength of schedule we edge them
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I just checked. What tie breaker?
bboystyle (23-Dec) : yes its possible but unlikely. If we do get the 5th, we face the NFCS winner
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : Ahh, ok.
bboystyle (23-Dec) : yes due to tie breaker
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I mean, unlikely, yes, but mathematically, 5th is possible by what I'm reading.
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : If Vikings lose out, Packers win out, Packers get 5th, right?
bboystyle (23-Dec) : Minny isnt going to lose out so 5th seed is out of the equation. We are playing for the 6th or 7th seed which makes no difference
Mucky Tundra (23-Dec) : beast, the ad revenue goes to the broadcast company but they gotta pay to air the game on their channel/network
beast (23-Dec) : If we win tonight the game is still relative in terms of 5th, 6th or 7th seed... win and it's 5th or 6th, lose and it's 6th or 7th
beast (23-Dec) : Mucky, I thought the ad revenue went to the broadcasting companies or the NFL, at least not directly
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I think the revenue share is moot, isn't it? That's the CBA an Salary Cap handling that.
bboystyle (23-Dec) : i mean game becomes irrelevant if we win tonight. Just a game where we are trying to play spoilers to Vikings chance at the #1 seed
Mucky Tundra (23-Dec) : beast, I would guess ad revenue from more eyes watching tv
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I would think it would hurt the home team because people would have to cancel last minute maybe? i dunno
beast (23-Dec) : I agree that it's BS for fans planning on going to the game. But how does it bring in more money? I'm guessing indirectly?
packerfanoutwest (23-Dec) : bs on flexing the game....they do it for the $$league$$, not the hometown fans
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I see what you did there Mucky
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : dammit. 3:25pm
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : Packers Vikings flexed to 3:35pm
Mucky Tundra (23-Dec) : Upon receiving the news about Luke Musgrave, I immediately fell to the ground
Mucky Tundra (23-Dec) : Yeah baby!
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : LUKE MUSGRAVE PLAYING TONIGHT~!~~~~WOWHOAAOHAOAA yah
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I wanna kill new QB's ... blitz the crap out of them.
beast (23-Dec) : Barry seemed to get too conservative against new QBs, Hafley doesn't have that issue
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : However, we seem to struggle vs new QB's
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : Should be moot point, cuz Packers should win tonight.
packerfanoutwest (23-Dec) : ok I stand corrected
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : Ok, yes, you are right. I see that now how they get 7th
