He's got this season to prove he's not a bust in my eyes. If he can stay healthy he's shown he can deliver some pressure in some situations. Maybe this'll be the year he takes it to a new level?...one can dream.

Not much, though, for a highly rated 1st round pick.
Maybe if he goes to a team he wants to play for, he will take it to another level.

And get compensatory draft picks in return...

Though, I never thought he was given much of a chance. Our staff seems to hate rookies, and a rookie who gets injured becomes a rookie twice. And by that point, he is a forgotten man.

this is the same staff that trotted out Jerret Bush as a starter week 1. These guys only value "experience", and Perry has very little to show.

Clearly they didn't hate him as a young guy, Coach Moss might of hated him as a unhealthy player last offseason but only recently has Moss become his head coach.

They trotted Bush as starter in to young bucks they need to whip it into shape and stop relaxing but give it hard work... Bush is known for his amazing work effort, coach was trying to get the young guys to take notice and stop being so lazy and start working that hard too. If I remember, Shields wasn't being very lazy in his tackling attempts at that time and starting Bush did seem to give Shields and House the wake up call they needed until House got injured and disappeared while healing.

Packers have been working on moving CM3 inside more [for 2 years] in 2013 and '14 seasons; part of the reason was to get Perry more snaps.

Perry is an extremely valuable player. On thing the stats dont show is how assignment sure he is in the run and holding the edge. And though often he's removed in passing downs his pass rush stats are pretty darn good.

17 games, five starts (429 snaps; 34.7 percent of total defensive snaps), 30 tackles, six missed tackles, 4.5 sacks, 13 quarterback hurries, zero interceptions, one forced fumble, one pass defensed, one penalty committed, 22 stops (tackles that resulted in offensive failure); dropped back in coverage 20 times, targeted three times, allowing two receptions for 23 yards and zero touchdowns.

Now for comparison purposes lets assume he played every snap and triple his stats:

90 tackles; 13.5 sacks; 39 hurries; 66 stops

And his extrapolated 2013 #'s: 86 tackles; 13 sacks; 61 hurries; 8 forced fumbles, 5 missed tackles [playing 38% of snaps] and worse in pass coverage showing he improve in that regard from 2013-14.

These full season numbers are not just good; but HOF good. For 1/3 of the snaps we have a back-up playing on a HOF pace.

Also I keep hearing about Perry's injuries holding him back... he played in 15 games last year.

If the Packers move on from Perry, he will undoubtedly find several other teams interested in his services. Even if he is no more than a #3 OLB or pass rusher, that's still valuable. He obviously hasn't lived up to his draft status yet, but he's not a bust. He will contribute in the NFL for several more years.

I still think he would be more effective as a DE in a 4-3. That might be the answer to him taking the next step, even if it's a small step.
