Zombie, was McCarthy being aggressive when he called a run on third-and-10 inside the red zone with the Packers up by double digits?

If the Packers had lost, McCarthy would've been called out for that play. However, given the possibility that our team was stifling the Colts in all aspects of the game, McCarthy realized that 3 points would be satisfactory.

Which goes to another point: how do we know Rodgers didn't change the play to run? If he did, it's hard to say McCarthy got conservative, because technically it was Rodgers that decided to play it safe.

That's my larger point overall, when things are going your way the calls seem perfectly fine. When there is no execution, and you have no rhythm on offense, it is so easy (and unfair, IMO) to put blame on the coach and his play calling.

The Colts had problems stopping the run this year, and I guess we were thinking we'd catch them sleeping. Grant really is due for a huge game. Didn't happen against the Colts, but there were flashes of the '07 Grant in the game.

The big thing he did that I stood behind was run on 4th and 1 from our territory. Loved it. Kept the drive alive and if I'm not mistaken, we ended up scoring that drive.

We did run a lot, yes, but the reason for it was because their run D is suspect. I thought MM looked better yesterday than he did all year.

I do understand your last point, but I just thought earlier in the season, he wasn't taking chances, and was playing too conservatively.

I read this, and i'm kind of upset that this article among others talk more about how the colts "played bad" as opposed to the Packers playing good.

Ah, but the Colts did play badly. And they are only two years removed from a Super Bowl championship, plus they looked like they had returned to form last week against Baltimore. So I can't fault Banks for his coverage.

Don't worry. The Packers will get their props if they keep playing like this. Banks did give credit to the Packers where it was most due: on Aaron Rodgers and the Packer secondary. The QB and secondary are two of our best units right now, the other one being the WR's. They had a surprisingly quiet day, though, maybe because it was windy and McCarthy wanted to mostly run and throw short passes.

I learned that if I post a 1000 word plus essay on karma/Joss and declare Lambeau field a Joss House for a day we win a football game many thought we would not. (Luckily for all involved, I posted it on another Packer website). I thought at the time of posting that I was being tongue-in-cheek, but then as the game progressed I couldn't help but notice how the officiating went our way.... all I have to say about that is prepare yourselves for-as I think vikesrule rather accusatorily put it- some serious "prolix exposition" on the value of alternative belief systems, and for planning purposes, I will have my very first Joss stick burning in the backround when I write it. 🙂

Exactly!

Sometimes the best defense is a good offense. We simply ate the clock. We had so many long drives with lots of plays in the 1st half, that by the 2nd half, they were worn down and demoralized.

Am I the only one who thinks its neat that the Colts and Packers both play the Titans as their next game?

Next week, Colts Titans. Packers on BYE.
Following week, Packers Titans.

I dunno, I thought it was neat. Kind of gives us a good look at the Titans because we are already familiar with the Colts.

What I like best is Pack has two weeks to prepare, and because Indy/Tenn is on Mon night they've got a short week.

I like our chances against the Titans alot more than I liked our chances with the Colts (I still picked the Pack to win)

1. We have a bye week. We get rested up, we get some of our core players back, and most importantly, IMHO, we get TWO weeks to study the Titans.

2. We get to watch the Titans play the Colts this week.

3. The Titans D is GREAT at stopping the run, which worries me a little, but thankfully we have the personell needed to just play pitch and catch against their secondary. Our short passes will be used as extended run plays.

4. We played them in preseason. I know, I know, it is only preseason but their first string played a full three quarters agianst us and couldnt do anything until our 3rd stringers got into the game.

5. They have a great running game but nobody on their receiving corp scares me. We can pack the line of scrimmage and let Woodson/HARRIS/Williams do their thing.

6. The Predator known as Atari Bigby is BACK!!!!

What I learned.. if Brett gave the Colts tips on this game.. he has no future in the consulting business.

I saw comparisons for when we play the Titans I am really worried about stopping their running attack we did give up 75 yds to rhodes. The titans live on the run game and they stuff the run. I have learned if the Packers can run the ball we will win. I sure hope the Bye week helps us and the players show up with excitement to play. I am become a Rodgers believer hope that don't curse him. If anyone has to pass against us i feel sorry for them.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Glad to see your warming up to Rodgers DH!
He sure has been playing lights out!
Yesterday, the short passes were working perfectly. We dinked and dunked our way down the field time and time again.
And the GREAT thing is.......if they try to take away the short ones, we can hit them deep!
