Well, Victor Cruz just went down for the Giants with a torn patellar tendon. And he looked like he was in a hell of a lot of pain, and could not walk under his own power.

Given that Shields was walking on his own and wasn't giving the vibe of "most crippling pain ever", I'd say it's a (slightly) positive sign his injury isn't all that bad.

They both went out on a cart together. It sucked to watch, but there is nothing anyone can do about it. Onward and upward!

The report was Shields injured the knee earlier, it gave out on him when he tried to go back on the field.

No pattern I see, but you see things that most don't

The weird thing about Shields' injury was how it happened. He was lining up in coverage when he went down before the first snap of the Dolphins' final drive of the third quarter. "It just gave out," Shields said. "I felt like a little pinch. They say nothing's torn, but it hurts."

Luckily we can rely on Micah Hyde, Casey Hayward and Devon House but really hoping its not for an extended period of time. If Williams can get back next week, there really shouldn't be an issue. If both Shields and Williams are out for extended time, this defense could be in trouble...especially against Drew Brees.

For some reason, I get a bad feeling about Shields injury.

Does losing Jumal Rolle hurt now? Bush is what he is. I agre with those saying Lattimore hurts more. Brad Jones should be cut.

Agreed, Lattimore being out hurts more because the drop off I think is more significant from Lattimore to Jones than Shields to Casey Hayward.

One thing to keep in mind is Al Harris went down untouched and was not showing any signs of being in pain and could walk. He had a torn ACL. I think that is Sam Shields fate as well.

Victor Cruz knew how bad the injury was and that is why his facial expressions were what they were. He knew his season was over. Shields is in denial.

Does anyone really have confidence he avoided major injury? Let's just say my fingers are crossd.

This is a pattern on this team. Dude falling down in a heap with no contact whatsoever. Their joints just suddenly SNAP! for no reason. Sup wit dat yo?

Many athletes continue to train and compete on it as it may not be a debilitating injury and recovers after a short period of rest. However, neglect jumpers knee at your peril! If left to become chronic it can be very difficult to treat and may require surgery.

That's more of a chronic condition though. Far as I know Sam was fine until he lined up for that play. Just weird. We're gonna need him. And Tramon.

I'm not a doctor but I did suffer knee issues for years which through years of therapy and arthroscopic surgeries, not to mention alot of pain, I ultimately had a knee replacement.
I forsee surgery in Shields future..
I'm sure he will tough it out as long as he can, but it's going to take it' toll.

Sure, there are knee injuries that are worse than they seem, probably also some that look worse than they are.

Here it is Monday evening. Why don't we have some MRI results or whatever on Shields, not to mention anything more definitive about Lattimore and Williams? Let's wait with the doom and gloom until we actually have something sure.
