Who would Elliot, Pennel, and Janis replace on the active roster? I can probably agree that Pennel should have been active, but keeping all those guys active could leave a position or two super thin. It's complicated.

Anyway, it's not worth a roster spot to just have someone return a kick, he better be ready to do a lot more. Same with Elliot. He's a udfa the week of facing the ST champs, no wonder he wasn't activated.

I would suggest it IS worth a roster spot to have someone just return kicks - not that Janis wouldn't be an improvement at Wideout too, and having somebody that can go in on clear passing situations and be a lot more likely to sack the QB? A big hell yeah to that too.

I disagree on a KR specialist. The position has been so marginalized by the new kickoff rules, you're almost better off just kneeling every play. I'd much rather use someone that is ready to be a solid contributor in other aspects. I agree with the concept of having someone like D Harris even if he was necessarily benched.

Going forward, we don't see daily practices, it's hard for us to say that Barrington, Lattimore, Pennel, etc. are definitively better than the goats we rag on in here...but I sure as hell would like some assurance that the Packer staff is in fact fielding the best 11 on D.
