He must of got tired of reading the Ted Thompson extension thread and decided to sign to end our pain and suffering.

I held out some remote hope that some of the talk that he was burned out and potentially ready to step aside was true, but knew this was the likely outcome.

Of course, I'm disappointed. While others are celebrating the fact we might now win more division titles, I cringe knowing we'll likely never sniff another SB under Aaron. A shame. Just a shame. 3 straight years of playoff failure, two ending in embarrassing fashion. The D is terrible and has been for several years while Ted Thompson pumps high pick after high pick into it. Not sure what he did to earn an extension...the SB honeymoon is long since over but I may be downplaying the idea that many fans were still reveling in the Bart Starr days during the entire 70's and 80's so the one in '10 will likely keep fans placated for a few more decades. Truly bummed.

You could say Ted Thompson gets credit because he drafted Aaron, however, he's coasted on that and has completely FAILED to add around him properly especially on D.

It truly amazes me the kudos Ted Thompson gets on the back of Aaron Rodgers. If you're the star employee at your place of business your boss also gets the credit, but you and the others who work with you and anyone who is actually paying attention knows it ain't your boss carrying the place...it's YOU. Aaron is the star employee and Ted Thompson is the boss. Just sad how little some get it.

Aaron goes down and this team can barely hang with the dregs of the NFL. And I do mean barely. Yes, most teams who lose their starting QB aren't anywhere near as good, but we were horrible when he went out... that should clue you in to what a wonderful job Ted Thompson has done building this team. Aaron Rodgers covers a multitude of sins.

A potential 1st overall falls to 24 and your current QB has been carrying on about retiring. Yeah, that was a real tough call on TT's part. He did make it but let's not get crazy about what happened there.

How this team is going one and done in the playoffs and getting slapped around with the best QB in football 3 years in a row is the question you should be asking instead of lauding a GM for making a no brainer pick and riding him to the playoffs every year. Wow.

This team should be in the NFC Championship EVERY year, at least, not just the playoffs. Just not enough TEAM in Green bay. Just Aaron and a brutal defense that Ted Thompson has spent pick after pick after pick on to improve and it is STILL .... TERRIBLE. Yet, somehow, that is not TT's fault and he bears no responsibility for the playoff exits or the brutal defense. Cherry picking at it's finest. I honestly don't understand this joy over his extension...it's embarrassing, really.

Not too many MASH units make the NFCCG, Uffda. The Niners are chock full of Top 15 picks. I would rather be a playoff team every year than have a decade of fielding dog shit. The Packers can make a run at Super Bowl every couple of years if things fall right for them. Ted Thompson has a lot to do with that, whether or not you think it is true or not.

Why so many can't get their heads around that baffles me. I think they really do but just like celebrating things for the sake of celebrating because they know Ted Thompson was GM when we won one so this must be a good thing.

Enjoy the division titles and playoff failures...I'm almost certain that's what you're going to see over the next several seasons minus the fact we might be caught and passed by other teams in the division who are actually teams and not just fronts for their greatest of all time candidate QB.

EDIT: Thank you, Tom Silverstein! At least someone is noticing...

Green Bay — Only four teams in the National Football League have used a first-round pick in each of the last three seasons on a defensive player.

Only one of those teams has gotten almost nothing out of it.

---You can guess which one... Hint: He recently signed an unspecified multi year deal because he drafted Aaron Rodgers almost a decade ago.

I have a feeling that the general consensus would be that "at least we got one" and "it's hard winning a championship, so we should be thankful"...yes, true, but a waste of what could've been. Why wait until then when you can see what's likely coming.

Why celebrate being "good"... greatness is just something that is not gunned for but is unexpected and a bonus? We have a "chance"... Man, Dumb and Dumber right through my mind.

The sad thing is we'll likely never get to see what another GM would've built around the greatest of all time. We'll just have to wonder what could've been.

Martha Careful (15h) : thank you Mucky for sticking up for me
Martha Careful (15h) : some of those people are smarter than you zero. However Pete Carroll is not
Mucky Tundra (19h) : Rude!

Zero2Cool (23h) : Raiders hired someone from the elderly home.
dfosterf (24-Jan) : I'm going with a combination of the two.
beast (24-Jan) : Either the Cowboys have no idea what they're doing, or they're targeting their former OC, currently the Eagles OC
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.
beast (23-Jan) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you
wpr (22-Jan) : Z, glad you are feeling better.

Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (22-Jan) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
