No chance

It would cost 2m to cut him and he's the only S on the team with actual game experience at that position. He had a down year but he had 2 pretty good years before that. Way too premature to talk about cutting the guy.

If Hyde and Dix beat out Burnett and they end up being the two best safeties then by all means start them over Burnett but to suggest cutting him is just plan silly. You need more than just 2 starters and if Burnett is your man off the bench I think that says something positive for your depth at the position.

Burnett's position coach has said he worries too much about covering other peoples mistakes instead of his own position responsibilities. In other words, he's the opposite of A.J. Hawk who you tell him to be at this spot at this time, you know he is going to be there.

FS means Fragile Safety.
Is safety Morgan Burnett OK? He missed lot of practice.

In addition to what has been said, when is depth not critical during a season. What happened at qb last year?

Morgan Burnett has not done a whole lot during today's padded practice. Certainly he is physically limited.

What if it is a message though? What if Micah Hyde and Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix form a better tandem than Burnett with either? What do the Packers do with Burnett? Release him? Trade him? Drop him down the depth chart?

Rodgers didn't throw it that well today in practice. Maybe he's losing it.

Exactly. He tweaked his ankle. He'll be fine. Why if someone gets nicked up do we already start talking about cutting him. Way too knee jerk here.

The remark about which TANDEM makes the Packers better is something we should be keying on in this topic, I think.

What if lets say ...

Burnett + Hyde = 30
Burnett + Clinton-Dix = 40
Clinton-Dix + Hyde = 70

Obviously, you start the best TANDEM, right?

I've read that ALL THREE may be used in some packages, so even the tandem argument doesn't really apply.

even if Burnett was significantly hurt/under performing we're left with Banjo and Richardson for depth. The Packers will hire Jerry Jones to be GM before they cut/trade Burnett this year.

Even when he's available, he's not that good. And now he's not even able to practice.

I want to see this play out with all three playing this season.
