We have tight end down as a key need (and let’s be honest here it is a big hole) but how important is the position in Green Bay’s offense anyway? The key difference between the Super Bowl team and this one wasn’t at TE but in the good play they got from their D-line. It’s almost as if they know this but keep swinging and missing in the draft. A first-rounder and two second-rounders at DL aren’t even on the chart above so will they return again?
Another factor in that 2010 season was a superior season from Desmond Bishop at ILB. Is it time to replace A.J. Hawk and finally admit he’s been one of the more extended busts in draft history?
The bit about AJ Hawk is off the mark. Last year was far and away his best year in a Packers uniform and he's been one of our most consistent players during his tenure.
They're correct in pointing out TE could use more depth (or Quarless AND Bostick need to both take the next step forward this year) but that defensive line is probably more important. That said, at DE, between Peppers and Neal sometimes rotating there, Datone Jones in his second year, Jerel Worthy (maybe being healthy? knocks furiously on wood), and Josh Boyd I'd hope we'd be able to get some good play out of the other defensive end spot aside from Mike Daniels when we're in a base 3-4. Then again, we run nickle so often that we don't always have two on the field anyway.
