For point of reference: Anthony Barr

NFL Draft 2014: Risers, fallers and surprises as draft day nears

Who will fall?

Anthony Barr, LB. Some considered him a sleeper choice as the top pick as college season ended. But the UCLA product has been passed in many eyes by Buffalo LB Khalil Mack and could also fall behind the hot offensive line prospects and by fast-moving skill position players like TE Eric Ebron and WR Mike Evans. Barr falling to the bottom of the first round where a contender can snatch him up is entirely possible.

But on the other hand :

Why the fall?

McShay said it has a lot to do with the tape. He watched Barr after the 2012 season and projected him to become one of the top prospects in this draft.

Some of McShay's early mocks, which kept Barr in the top 15, hinged on that tape on those projections. But once he finally watched the 2013 tape, he realized Barr had not developed as he anticipated.

"I thought I was going to see a different player than I actually saw," McShay said. "He wasn't bad -- I don't want to give the wrong impression -- but his takeoff skills have to improve.

"He's not very strong at the point of attack. He does not do a good job of setting the edge. He is close to a one-trick pony as a pass-rusher, in terms of just the speed rush. His speed-to-power moves stall -- they almost always stall out."

If he was there at #21, what say you?

He won't be Mucky - we should have a shot at Mosely though, even though I think we should take a receiver like Cooks.

I've been thinking WR depth is something that should be addressed early with a top talent. Was thinking big, but depth at the slot can be just as important. Taking Cooks at 21, arguably the fastest player in the draft, might not be a bad idea.

As for Anthony Barr, seems like we could do better with the pick. He is definitely dropping fast.

I don't see Barr or Mosley falling but I guess we'd pick one of them if available.

Brandin Cooks is a good player but I wouldn't like to pick him at #21. The WRs I like at #21 are Beckham Jr and Marquese Lee. Beckham because I think he could boost our return game to a high level, something we need a lot and Lee because I think he is a top-10 player that will fall only because of a season plagued with injuries.

I can't see a scenario where Brandin Cooks would be the BPA at #21. Barr or Mosley would be almost automatic though.

If Ted and co feel he's a top 10 talent and he's there you have to take him. Mathews is a beast but he's missed how many games? Perry can and may turn into a solid OLB but as of now you don't pass on someone you think is a pro-bowler just to give Perry one more look. However if they don't feel he's an elite talent and he grades out mid-late first or something, well then I rather they pass.

I'm in the camp with those who feel as long as its not a QB or RB you take the best player who fell to you in round 1 or trade out. You can reach for the positions of need with the rest of the picks.

I would take Shazier if he's there. Pass on Barr.

If it says someone else, take him. If multiple players are rated equally and there is no strong preference, try to trade down and take whichever one is likely to be there when the next pick comes around. Obviously I don't know what it's like to be a general manager, but I would think the draft wouldn't be too stressful so long as a team is properly prepared. I suppose that only changes as the draft approaches the later rounds and the quality of scouting may not be as solid. At that point, I think I'd be willing to take a few more risks, because the chance of 6th and 7th round picks contributing much on a good team aren't great anyway. Take a chance on a great talent with an injury history or off the field issues. It probably won't work out, but if it does it's a steal.
