Football Outsiders has some interesting O-line analysis:

http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/ol

Packers are tied for 5th in run blocking, and tied for 25th in pass blocking.

We're #1 in Power running, 5th in not getting stuffed (though at least part of that is having a beast running back who gets lots of yards after contact), 11th in 2nd level blocking and 9th in open field.

We run better up between the tackles, ranking 2nd in up the middle and 3rd in off right tackle (with more than 4.5 yds/attempt adjusted line yards). L tackle drops to just above 4 yds, and around the ends are around 3.5 yds.

Mike McCarthy might want to look at the stats, because we run around the left end more than twice as often as the right tackle (RT ranked last in runs in each direction).

It's nice to have a left tackle who is as mean as a snake and can run block. Barclay isn't too bad at run blocking either. Now pass protection is another story. But I'd really like to see a better mix of the run next year with our passing game. In 2010, we ran just enough to keep the defenses honest. In 2014, I want to see defensive coordinators shitting their pants because we can do both really well.

There is more to play, but this kid has shown toughness and looks to be improving with every game. He's got a very big assignment on Sunday, stopping Julius Peppers. he held Peppers to 1 tackle, 1 assist and 1 sack last time. I'm thinking with Rodgers back in action, Bakhtiari may prove to be even better.

It is the right side of our OL that we have to worry about, and we need to see improvement there, not the left. That, to me, says a lot about the rookie's play.

One game at a time.

Unlike Datone Jones, Bakhtiari has shown improvement. That's how you judge a rookie. In addition, left tackle is among the toughest positions to play in the NFL, especially out of college. I think he's done a fine job under the circumstances. He needs to clean up the penalties, but I like his toughness and his aggressiveness.

In my opinion, he's more of a right tackle than a left tackle. I'd also be interested in how he'd play at guard. For example, would an offensive line of Sherrod/Bakhtiari/Lang/Sitton/Bulaga be in the cards if everyone was healthy? You could always draft a left tackle and let Bulaga and Sherrod compete at right tackle.

Tretter is going to be our center, boys. I'm confused as to why Bulaga is automatically starting on either side. I see a 3 man battle for two positions next year in training camp. How much faith does anybody have that Bulaga is over his injury proneness? It seems we have plenty of serviceable lineman, but very few studs. The only guy that should have an automatic position is Sitton, and arguably Lang.

What I want to see is Sherrod at LT because of his measurables and Bahktiari at RT because of the nasty. But as Buckeye always points out, I am not a coach, and neither are the rest of us.
