It's just an incomprehensibly stupid suggestion.

Why lie?

I feel like he knew he F'd up by not having an adequate backup in place, AND by not going out and at least taking a look at Matt Flynn when he became available. So he was trying to downplay the injury so people wouldn't confront him about having F'd up.

Man up, Mike.

This is hardly coherent as far as an argument goes. For starters, McCarthy isn't the one who addresses the backup QB position; that would be Thompson.

Next, let's quote Vic and explain why the Packers didn't go get Flynn the moment he became available (aside from the obvious fact that he had just been cut again, by a worse team than ours):

"It’s real easy to say get him. What are the consequences? Flynn was traded to Oakland on April 1 of this year. His base salary was $5.25 million, but the Raiders kicked it up to $6.5 million in ’13 for a reduction of his salary in ’14. Then the Raiders released Flynn on Oct. 7. He was signed by the Bills on Oct. 14, which means the Packers had a one-week window to sign Flynn but, of course, they were comfortable with Seneca Wallace as their backup at that point. The Bills released Flynn on Nov. 4 and the Packers signed Flynn on Nov. 12. The Raiders are paying Flynn his $6.5 million contract and the Packers are paying Flynn minimum wage on a split contract. Among football people, the Packers look like geniuses. Those are the facts."

So yeah, the way I see it the organization looks pretty smart, because if Wallace hadn't gotten hurt we (probably) would have gotten a few more wins in Aaron's absence. Seeing as he did get hurt though, they addressed the problem in a way that didn't jeopardize the team's salary cap. Oh, and once again, none of this is on McCarthy. Just something to consider before telling him to "man up" because you personally don't like the way a situation was handled.

3: How do these facts make them look like geniuses? If they'd have signed him a month earlier, we probably win two more games. And for what reason would we be paying him more? You do realize that we were paying Seneca Wallace, right?

What I am curious about all of this Rodgers wants to play but the Dr won't clear him is this, Does Rodgers have incentives in his contract that might not be met if he is out? And as far as a Dr he goes off what the hire ups want. I remember when Favre wanted to come back the drs actually failed his physical but yet once the trade was made he passed the Physical. Its all about what the management wants I believe.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Favre played in a different era than Rodgers so it's ignorant to compare the two tit for tat.

What bothers me about Rodgers is he said he would have final decision and also McCarthy said something about if his QB came into his office Saturday saying he wants the ball you give it to him. Something like that. Well, Friday the QB said give me the ball and coach said no.

If I were a conspiracy theorist I'd say coach knows he's going to make some coaching personnel changes and its easier to make those changes with no playoff victories under their belt. Basically, this is assuming he's decided to move on from Dom Capers and if the Packers win out, win a game in the playoffs ... its a little harder to get rid of your DC.

Has anyone considered this as a possibility:

Maybe he hasn't been cleared to play because the bone hasn't healed yet?

Its a 6-10 week injury. Its been 6 weeks.
