KR and PR was handled by Randall Cobb who did quite well.

INT's ... Packers have had the most INT's or right there at the top for several years ... this year being the exception.

RB ... Packers are a passing team ... they have that mediocre guy named Aaron Rodgers so ...

WR ... Come one ... the Packers have had probably half dozen WR that could start for any team in the NFL at either the 1 or 2.

Your expectations are unrealistic in the salary cap era. Wait and see how the Seahawks and 49ers do when they have to pay their QB's after their rookie contracts. lol

Cobb was a great returner, indeed. This staff deemed him too valuable as a WR and handed those return duties off over a year ago.

Just asking some questions really. I mean, Ross, the same Ross we let go, seems to be doing pretty well in DET. Does something like that point to a communication issue between the coaches and the personnel dept? Player development issue? Coaching issue?

Giaccomini, another player we just couldn't make work on our OL played pretty well for SEA last night against a tough NO DL.

My expectations are just fine. I want the players and the staff to be doing their best. I think we have a more talented group of players than we are realizing, and I could be wrong. Maybe they just aren't that good. Something tells me that's not the case though. Trying to figure all that out… No biggie.

Yeah, our Long Snapper and our Punter are both pretty good.

My bigger point is the "draft & develop" philosophy is a very big part of their program. I love Randall Cobb. I do think he would be considered a top talent if he were still playing today. I love the David Bakhtiari pick, and I think he has done a remarkable job for a rookie. Nick Perry is a really good player when healthy - like him a lot. I pretty much kept rookies out of my line of thinking as the sample is too small. Lacy and Hyde could turn into remarkable talents, from what we've seen through 12 games.

But, if they employ "draft & develop" as their sole means of talent acquisition, then they had better be damn good at developing the talent they draft and sign as UDFAs. I'm questioning the real development that we are seeing, or not seeing.

All of this is super interesting to me. I'm not saying one person is right or wrong. Just looking at the scenery and what has transpired. You are right that it is not as cut and dry as I may have intimated. I was just pointing out we have 4 players who would be considered top talents at their positions, through this draft and develop strategy. if this is indeed a great strategy, should we be expecting more? If we are not seeing more, then why? Is it the players Thompson is acquiring, or is there a lack of development on the coaching end?

Odd thought on this. Our WR and RB development seems pretty solid. CBs seem pretty good in general. DL and OL have been question marks. LB, kind of a question mark. S development has been an issue since Collins went down. TEs? eh. QBs? Boy, after Rodgers, there isn't much to speak of. STs? Our coverage has been atrocious, as has been our return game.

I do question accountability. Players and coaches alike. Haven't seen it, and I do find that a bit troubling as a fan. Just a bunch of lip service these past 4 seasons.

What would be good enough? 15-20 guys who are best at their position? If you aren't trying to compare it to other teams then how do you know if it means anything? Just because a player isn't top 10 at his position doesn't mean he's not good anyways. We've got a lot of players who have shown good development and are impactful whether they are a top player or not for example Daniels, Lang, EDS (everyone dumps on him but he's been good this year if you are being objective), Boykin. There are more but that's some examples.

Overall I agree that there needs to be some accountability for players and coaches (though player accountability comes down to coaches). Capers is out of excuses for me, there are some guys on D who should lose their jobs (Raji) and some who have earned some more snaps (Lattimore) but Capers never makes a change.

As far as the offensive line I cannot really complain because the way I see it they are getting the max out of all those guys (a number of them were supposed to be the back ups and are pretty damn good for back ups). The only thing I see as an issue there is the insistence that Newhouse be the #1 back up at every position basically when he's been the worst player on the team.

As a team I think there are some weak spots but I see enough talent that with GOOD HEALTH, a couple changes and good coaching should be a top level team. What it comes down to is it doesn't matter how many top 10 players you have it matters how many wins you have with your players. I think with better health on the OL and a better defensive coach this team would have been able to win a couple games without Rodgers and as long as Rodgers comes back fairly soon would have still walked away with the division.

Masthay and Crosby have been pretty good this year, but the rest of our STs is not so hot. Our LB play has had tough sledding with Matthews and Perry being injured as much as they've been, and Jones is not looking like the answer. Hawk has been giving his all, as usual, with good and bad results. Tramon looks to have missed a beat. Shields was coming on, but, again, fighting through injury. House looks to have regressed a bit. Hyde looks like he has great potential and instincts.

Defensively, Capers is just not doing the job. I question Trgovac too as DL coach, as few have excelled, Mike Daniels being the recent exception. Our first round pick, Datone Jones, is nearly absent of real impact, Raji has gone AWOL, and I can't help but think some other coaches might get more out of this group.

Marshall Newhouse was pretty good when he first came in. He looks to be going downhill fast. Barclay looks to be taking a step backwards a bit in his play.

The overall health, strength and conditioning of this Packers team is very poor. No one has done a thing about any of these issues for 3 years running. Maybe Ted and Mike share an equal amount of blame. I hope all of that changes for the better, soon.
