Our offensive line is failing us. Ryan Grant is failing us. Aaron Rodgers is playing better football than we could have hoped for under the circumstances. He is getting "teed off on" by defenses. We are semi-lucky that it hasn't been announced that he is out for the year. I don't know or care about comparisons to our former quarterback, I get to dance with the girl I brought. I thought we should have got a veteran back-up, but sure didn't like the options outside of Jeff Garcia, and I seem to be in the minority on that one. If Aaron's somehow at or near 100%, and if our line decides to open up some holes for Grant to hit, and if Grant decides to hit them, both on the same plays, we will be better... much better. We are looking at the wrong guy(s) in our critique of Rodgers.

Dead on.. it starts on the Oline and the running game.. Rodgers isn't the problem nor would #4 be the answer to our issues right now.

We can't sustain any offense and the defense is being trotted out too many times in a game. We are losing the field position battle each of the three games.. our defense, even if the numbers suggest otherwise has carried this team to the 2-2 record so far.

We seriously need the Oline to find its stride.

GREAT points by Trippster, 4pack, and dfosterf.

It sometimes amazes me just how much thought some people put into threads.
GREAT points guys (and gal!)

It's kind of like politics. Politicians like to blow everything out of proportion to get their bills passed. They'll exaggerate the problem and say the sky will fall if they don't do what they say.

Sportscasters do the same thing. One win and your favorite team is unstoppable. One loss and your favorite team can't beat anybody even if half of your opponent's team came drunk and the other half were dead.

So, it's not easy being a fan. You get shellshocked by the media constantly, bombarded with all these build 'em up and bring 'em down stories. As a lowly fan, it's hard not to give in to these so-called experts.

Look at Yahoo Sports for example. They even call them experts. Same thing with their financial section. They'll scare the hell out of you if you read them. One day, you're going to be a millionaire. The next day, you're going to be on the street begging for money because the market will collapse.

I'm not excusing falling for the media. I'm just saying that I can understand why people do.

I suppose my main purpose for this thread was to just bring out something I had observed over the last half year or so regarding the Packers perceived success or lack there of with Rodgers and how it changed so many times before we even played a game, then how it has changed after we've played only FOUR games into the season.

I like that when Rodgers is starting, we worry about other positions and not QB. I'm glad that Packers fans have faith him in, for the most part even if they are admitting they do and don't know it. Its also a good thing that we have Rodgers who is capable.

Why is it people 4get about Culpepper? and the offer that was made to him

"longtimefan" wrote:

Cpep was very clear the entire offseason, that we wanted two things.

1) A competitive Salary.
2) A fair shot at the starting position.

We offered him a 1 million dollar salary with no chance to compete for the starting spot. Clearly we were spinning our wheels with that endeavor.

But lets say it is a legit attempt.. we lost out, so we just stop exploring the market upon one "no"?

Seriously.. we are going to defend the lack of adding a veteran QB on this sole piece of evidence?

I think it was a fundamental error on our part.. not looking to lynch Ted for this mistake..

Also, I have a very sound record for supporting the Pack over the years in almost all decisions.. but for the life of me can't understand why it is so frowned upon to constructively criticize Ted on missteps. He is human.. he can make mistakes like any other human.

To be an effective GM you have to win a greater share than you lose.. and at this point no one can argue that Ted isn't a quality GM.

In that same breath.. at times it is fair to criticize his mistakes in each fans opinion.

I think it is a mistake in training camp, preseason, and currently. Flynn nor Brohm have shown that they are ready to play at this point.. if you doubt that, que Sunday's footage of Flynn.. he was lost.

Oh by the way.. Rodgers isn't the reason we lost 2 games... but a large part of why we have been competitive in all four games.

True Zombie...........lets face it, the "sportscasters" have to put shows together every day. So they will use ANYTHING to fill time if they don't have a BIG story that day. So if it's the Packers winning or losing, they will write SOMETHING about it, just to keep thier jobs.

I'm not sure if I even consider Daunte a veteran QB, has he had any experience running a WCO?

I would have loved to have a veteran QB, but who is out there? Who should we have gone after? Who should we have traded for and what should we have given up for one?

btw, thanks for trashing my god damn thread, pricks!!!!

wpr (17-Apr) : 7 days
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
