GREEN BAY — Ryan Taylor did not suffer a significant knee injury and the Green Bay Packers third-year tight end should be OK in a week or so, an NFL source said Sunday evening.
Taylor was injured during the annual Family Night Scrimmage at Lambeau Field when he was rolled up on while blocking on a punt.
Given his reaction after it happened — angrily throwing his helmet on the sideline — one might have thought that Taylor knew he'd sustained a serious knee injury. Taylor also left the field on a cart, riding in the passenger seat en route to the locker room.
But the source said Taylor should be OK in 7-10 days. The Packers were off of practice Sunday, and coach Mike McCarthy will speak with reporters on Monday after the team's closed-to-the-public practice. Taylor's was the only injury McCarthy listed after the scrimmage ended.
Taylor is a vital special-teams contributor and was on the No. 1 kickoff team and No. 1 punt team during the scrimmage. A seventh-round pick in 2011, he saw action in all 18 games last year (including playoffs).
The Packers were without 16 players due to injury for Saturday night's scrimmage.
