After this offseason's FA/draft/UDFA class signings, I can easily see these veteran players having to fight hard to keep their positions on this Packers team:

TJ Lang
Marshall Newhouse
Tramon Williams
MD Jennings
Andrew Quarless
DJ Williams
Ryan Taylor
Desmond Bishop
AJ Hawk
Brad Jones
CJ Wilson
Jarrett Boykin
James Starks
Alex Green
Mason Crosby
Mike Neal
Jarrett Bush

Did I miss anybody? Seems to me, all of these players have slipped, some more than others, in their level of play over the past couple of years. Some have improved, but have still left this team in need of upgrades. Some were plagued by poor play alongside them, bringing the performance of themselves and their unit down. Others simply suffered injury causing them to be lesser contributors, or have just plateaued.

Regardless, I think all of these players will have to battle in TC to keep their roster positions in Green Bay this year. I've listed 17 players here, and I am guessing only 7 or 8, maybe 9 will survive to the 53 man roster.

I will strike players that are almost locks on this team..

Aaron Rodgers
TJ Lang
Marshall Newhouse
Tramon Williams
MD Jennings
Andrew Quarless
DJ Williams
Ryan Taylor
Brad Jones
CJ Wilson
Jarrett Boykin
James Starks
Alex Green
Mason Crosby
Mike Neal
Jarrett Bush

I think one of these two could be moved, but since both Rodgers and Matthews contracts are done with us still in good cap shape.. I doubt either go anywhere unless it is in trade. But I doubt it, we can't go all young at backers.. and Jones has to prove it again in camp.

Desmond Bishop
AJ Hawk

I think there are probably 42-45 players that are 'locked'. Locked as they will make the team by effort, not by just saying 'oh hey they are here, they get their spot'.

I agree with everyone cept Tramon, Brad Jones, Mike Neal, and maybe Bishop. Bishop just needs to prove he can get back to form after his injury. I don't believe in those trade talks to be honest with you. But you never know.

I'd add Pickett to the players that need to fight for a position. We essentially replaced him with Datone Jones and Josh Boyd.

Players I have a hard time making the roster is Hawk, Jennings, Jarrett Bush, D.J. Williams, Ryan Taylor, Alex Green, Jarrett Boykin, Jeremy Ross, Mike Daniels, and Sean Richardson.

I think it's time to rebuild this defense. Not totally rebuild per say... but add that speed and toughness the Packers staff has been clamering about, rather than sticking with players that don't make this Defense better. I honestly don't care if we have 15 players rookies that make the team, as long as they can contribute to the team and stay healthy.

Will Pickett be extended past this season? Probably not.. or not at a sizable deal. But I think even with adds, he is about as physical as we have at the line of scrimmage even yet.

Datone and Josh Boyds are his undoubtedly replacements for Pickett. I think for Pickett to make this team he needs to beat out Neal, Wilson, and Jolly to make this team. I think he could but he's getting long in the tooth I think it's time to move on.

I agree with both of you guys about Pick. He was our very best DL last season. I would hate to lose him, as he is one of my favorite Packer players. On the other hand, he is older, and his contract numbers are higher, which are two factors that often lead a player to the waiver wire. Ted doesn't mess around too much where he sees the value scales tipped out of his favor, especially with older players.

I can see Pickett on this roster in 2013, and would be quite surprised and disappointed if he wasn't. I'm hoping we have two more years with him in a Packers uniform.

1 of their picks becomes a full time starter,
REALLY lucky if 2 become starters,
and are truly blessed if 3 or more become starters.

10 of the players you have listed have been starting for The Packers multiple years.

Bush, Williams and Taylor are mainstays on Sp Tms, and in a pinch do pretty well filling in.

Crosby had an off year, actually about an off 4 week period, he isn't going anywhere.

Every year we always seem to forget, we have to give these rookies time adjust and LEARN how to be NFL players.

Pickett and Lang are locks.

Pickett's got at least one solid year left.

Why are you guys down on Lang? Dude's a solid starter.
