I read an article that had a little blurb about James Starks. Apparently he's weighing in at 218 with 7% and is faster than he has ever been in his life. If he is indeed faster and can stay healthy, that's going to be one helluva rushing threat for the Packers in 2012.

And most teams agree, I guess, since he's still unsigned.

I don't know about Starks. According to Nerdmann and half of Packers nation he's been a mix of Barry Sanders and John Riggins, just waiting to finally get that chance and show that potential.

I'm more in the mindset of us having four mediocre runnings backs who all seem to be underperforming if you look just at their skillset.

No real reason to make that five by signing back Grant. Especially at his age.

I am fine with Starks getting 4.3 per carry for the next 8 years.

If he wasn't splitting time with Grant, he probably puts up over 1200 yards last year.

I don't see it as underperforming. That is as good at the 49ers running backs.

I am comfortable with the RB group they have. I would feel a little better about them if I knew that the OL was going to consistently open holes for them to run through. It doesn't matter have fast a player is if he is slamming into the back of his OG.

I am super, super excited to see Starks play up to his potential this year. I hope it happens. Green is going to be fun to watch as well. Both players have something to prove, and I can't wait to see it. I am really pulling to Mike to call more running plays, and call some of the dogs off of Rodgers' back. I temper that by knowing fully he won't. ;-)

Two questions:

1. Has Grant signed with anyone yet?
2. Is Green expected to be ready/100% when the season opens?

I really hope someone else on the roster steps up and is dependable if/when Starks gets hurt. I just have a feeling he's going to miss some games before the season is done. I'm not particularly worried if Starks is in the game, but I am a bit worried about who his primary backup/3rd down back pans out.

The Packers have given free agent Ryan Grant's locker to WR Diondre Borel.
The locker still had Grant's name on it at rookie camp. Green Bay has shown no interest in re-signing Grant. This move suggests he won't be brought back to the Packers regardless of his price tag. May 22 - 3:03 PM

Latest News

Packers RB Alex Green appears to have turned the corner in his recovery from ACL surgery.
Green was able to cut freely in outside zone plays during last Thursday's practice. He had no problem running all the routes required from running backs during minicamp. Of a training camp return, Green replied, "That's the plan. That's the goal." The Packers have yet to add a veteran tailback, suggesting there's no concern over Green's rate of recovery. IF Green is truly healthy, I'm not that worried at all. I think he has the ability to be a perfect RB in the Packer's offense. He just needs some time and health. If that happens, I see him being on the field a lot more than Starks.
