Everything you say before the dash is well-said. But the final, underlined statement does not follow from it.

Yes, a true Christian should act compassionately and in a giving manner toward those less fortunate and less capable. And we're going to have to account to Him for every one of our failures to do so.

But my paying taxes or not isn't going to be part of that accounting. Indeed, if I need the coercion of the state to get me to pay or do my share, that share isn't going to help me a bit with God. Because I'm doing it for the wrong reason. I'm simply doing it to cover my ass and keep out of jail and not look bad in the public eye. I'm not doing it to please God and follow his example.

Floating our empire around the world and policing it is starving our country. There's evidence on both sides. This is one where the economist part of me doesn't know the answer.

But (in the post being responded to) I was speaking only of what affects the Christian's standing with God. Being a good payer of taxes might be viewed as "giving to Caesar what is Caesar's", but it isn't going to have any traction with God. What's going to matter to God is why we did the things we did. Motives matter. And doing out of fear of the taxman/gov't enforcer is not the right motive. If you only give when forced, you aren't giving out of love. And if you aren't giving out of love, God is underwhelmed.

The United States needs many things to strive, survive, and thrive. And among these things needed are various kinds of coercion.

God's needs, God's requirements, God's demands -- they're another matter entirely. The future of the United States is no more important to God than the future of France, Vatican City, or ancient Rome.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Cheesey nailed this whole thing perfectly, Obama did this to counter what happened in Wisconsin. He was afraid the republicans grew a lot of momentum with Walkers win, so he needed a way to get it back and how else can he win it? Let's get all the Latinos on his side, after all there are more of them then any other race in the us. Didn't anyone else notice how he quickly made it know that if he didn't win Romney could reverse this in 2 years. So he now won over all of the Latino votes and got a dig in against Romney. Obama now controls the so called minorities in blacks and Latinos. Who really cares if he is breaking laws to do it right?
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

But does everybody have the same abilities as you? That's what is wrong with your line of thinking - you believe everyone is created equally and we are not. There are a lot of people not capable of your life. They need your help and if you are a true Christian - you should be more than willing to pay your taxes to help these people.

They are no dumber on average than the rest of us, and they have a historical memory of experience with such carpetbagger sorts.

If one listens to CNN, Fox, Wall Street suits, and Wall street protestors, said "traditional strengths of the Democratic party" are as firm as the United Auto Workers leadership in their commitment to Obamaism and Bidenism. It ain't so.

Oh, they might vote for Obama instead of Romney. They are as captured right now by the "lesser of two evils" philosophy as everyone else. But that's all their votes reflect. Latinos and blacks are not morons. They know they're being played.

If Obama thinks he controls them, he's even more delusional than I thought.

And The Great Implosion is closer still.
