Charles Woodson has missed more tackles the last two years than any other Packers player. Why would anyone want that player at Safety, the last line of defense??

The Packers don't play much bump an run anymore, unless I missed something? I recall many times folks here whining about "why is the CB giving such a big ass cushion!".

Woodson may have missed a lot of tackles last season, but he's still the best tackler in the secondary, and perhaps beyond (unless of course he has totally fallen off in his play permanently). It was just one season before 2011 that Woodson was still an incredible tackler. I think he still has that ability, it was just an off season for everyone on defense. I'm not saying anything about position changes, but who is a better tackler in the secondary? Shields? Tramon? Peprah (he seemed solid in 2011, but I don't like him). Perhaps Bush is close. But out of those players, I'll take Woodson every time. At least until if/when he proves that last year was not an exception. I'd be surprised to see a rookie drafted outside of the first round be a better tackler than him either, at least in their rookie season.

2009 I think he won Defensive Player of the Year.


I think Charlie Peprah is best and I think Sam Shields is the worst in the secondary at tackling. Shields seems like he more or less tries to get in the way, rather than tackle. Woodson tries, but just can't bring guys down for whatever reason. Actually the reason is probably because he's always using one arm to punch at the ball, lol.

Tramon Williams will do better if his shoulder is healed.

I like the Packers using Charles Woodson more in the slot coverage as a "Nickel" CB more than anything. He then gets to play rover and use his ball instincts.
