Wow! Who is that?

As for Hawk, easy scapegoat. What went wrong starts up front. The DL is supposed to plug the line and let the LBs do their jobs. When the line is plugged, it's easy pickings for LBs.

Didn't happen in 2011. Instead, CM3 had to be in coverage too much. (He was good at it, but putting our #1 pass rusher in coverage sucks).

Is Hawk bad? No. Is he good? No. He's an average player. Yes, you could argue he was a bust considering where he was picked, but not a major bust. More like a minor bust because barring injury, Hawk will have a 10-year NFL career. Maybe not on the Packers, but I can guarantee he'll be playing for at least a few more years.

I don't think people realize the importance of losing Cullen Jenkins. He did his DL job to an Elite level, plugging the OL against the run and actually getting pressure and sacks against the pass. Jenkins made the LB job so much easier.

This offseason is crucial. 🇹🇹 and 🇲🇲 know it. We're a Playoff team. We're gonna be in the Playoffs next year no matter what we do in the offseason. But 🇲🇲 has made it clear that we're not about making the Playoffs. We're about winning Championships. And 🇲🇲 will share his frustrations with 🇹🇹 and it's 🇹🇹's job to find 🇲🇲 the players for his scheme.

50% chance we're trading up. But like I've always said, you're better off predicting the weather than predicting what 🇹🇹 will do.

I hope Ted Thompson can parlay some of our picks into higher picks this year and/or next year. we don't need 12 picks this year. An extra second this year could help. If he can't get that, package for and extra second or third next year.

edit: as an example I would sooner have a second rd pick this year than, say, a 3rd , 5th and 7th this year. Or a second next year than, say, a 4th, 5th and 7th this year.

PackerTraxx, good point. Loading for next year could be key. We do have to address re-signing Rodgers, Raji and Matthews, Jennings along with others.

I would trade Jones for a R1 next year... maybe for an R2 next year and a R4 this year. I think that might be possible.

Our WRs are great. As a group, they are very difficult to match 1-5, and we have super quality just waiting in the wings for their shot at 6 (Gurley) & 7 (Borel). That is a glut. Ted has got to move one of them in trade, and while I really like Jones, and don't wish for him to leave, he simply seems the most likely to be traded. Awesome talent and awesome cap figure.

With all of these picks, Ted can go many different directions.

1. Shotgun - just take what you get, where you stand, see who fits, cut the chaff, hope to land some on the PS.

2. Trade picks to move up - determine high value players and maneuver draft day with the extra picks to secure them.

3. Trade players and picks to move up - we have high value talent that we can part with on O in order to land specific help on D.

4. Trade away picks for next year as Traxx mentioned - ala Belichick, only difference being is Ted should know a little better what to do with those picks next year.

Personally, I don't really care what he does in trade, as long as he gets help on D this year, and maybe a RB and a C. We can all fall in love with the top 50-100 or so players, but they know the talent that lies deep in the draft. We are blessed with one of the best scouting teams in the NFL. For all we know, their top target could be sitting in R3 of many mocks. All I know is they have a ton of options to maneuver around, and they really should be considering moving one of our WRs in trade this year.

Consider, Jennings is set to break the bank next season. He could be gone. Would you trade his services away for the 2012 season in order to swap straight up to get into the top 10? I love Jennings in the Green & Gold, but I could see this happening. It's an option, if there is a player worth moving that high to get.

We must add immediate starter(s) at DE and OLB THIS year - at the very least (SS?). Via the draft, those are often found at the top of the heap. That could take some doing, like in 2009 when we added both Raji and Matthews R1. I'll be thrilled if we can add those 3 starters prior to the end of R2 this draft, but however they decide to do it, I'll support them - as long as they get the job done. Pass rush & tacklers! I wish Ted and his staff well.

We will not get a 1st or a 2nd or a 3rd for Jones. He couldn't get a contract when he was a free agent, no1 is going to give a pick for him.
BAD EMAIL because the address couldn ot be found, or is unable to receive mail.

Am I the only one who thinks it more likely that Ted Thompson will trade out of the first round?

I look for him to trade down to an early second position (I really like the looks of McClellin from Boise State) somewhere between 35 and 40.

I also wouldn't be surprised if he finds a way to package picks to get an early 3rd or an early 4th.

IMO this draft has a shortage of second-half-of-first round talent and surpluses of high second and high third rounders. Quality available at 20-25 is still going to be there at 30-45. And IMO it would cost way too much to trade up to picks 10-15; I'm not sure who there is worth the price. Who is the Clay Matthews opportunity in this draft? Only one I can think of is, maybe, Dontari Poe, and I expect him to be a lot closer to 10 than to 20.

For now I'm sticking with my predictions of trading down for McClellin, OLB in early second, and Markelle Martin, FS, in late second. And if there is no trade to early 3rd or 4th, Kheeston Randall DT/DE with the third, and Senio Kelemete, OG/OT with the Packers original 4th.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

James Jones did not come "slinking back to The Packers", there was plenty of interest in him, The Vikings, The Jets, The Jaguars, were among the top 3 suitors.

The only fact I know is that Aaron Rodgers, Greg Jennings and Donald Driver all went to bat for Jones, telling Ted Thompson they needed him and wanted him back.

As far as AJ Hawk goes, well Ted Thompson made him the Packers #1 pick, and Ted Thompson resigned him when he could have let Hawk go.

So those of you who have continued to rip on AJ Hawk, just keep right on doing it, The Packers #1 need in the 2006 draft was LB, here is the list of LB's picked in the 1st rnd that year:

5 Green Bay A.J. Hawk - LB
9 Detroit Ernie Sims - LB
17 Minnesota Chad Greenway - LB
18 Dallas Bobby Carpenter - LB

Which one of those guys would you rather Ted Thompson had drafted?

I'm not gonna list all of Hawks stats, that's been done too many times, those of you who have made Hawk your "whipping boy" since almost day 1 will never change your opinion, bottom line is Ted Thompson had his chance to let him go as he did with James Jones, in both cases Ted decided to keep them.

Trust in Ted?????? Right????

Back to topic, with Ted's being unusually busy in FA this year, and the fact he has 2 4th rnd picks he can't trade, I can see him packaging The Packers 1st,3rd, and 4th picks to move up in the 1st rnd, if there is a player he wants and if there is a team willing to trade.

A.J. Hawk Has An Explanation For His Shitty Year
Green Bay Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk is accountable for his actions. So, on Thursday he explained to everyone why he had such a shitty season in 2011.

He forgot how to tackle......

So, essentially, Winston Moss had to teach a former No. 5 overall draft pick how to wrap a guy up and bring him to the ground again? That’s superb.

Why is a guy who’s been an NFL starter for six years, a guy who was given a huge new contract before the season, getting tackling lessons during the season?

I’ll tell you why. Because A.J. Hawk is a mediocre football player. Always has been. Always will be...........

Trust me Buckeye, I don't sit here on Sunday afternoons rooting against the guy - but he is what he is, an overpaid slow linebacker that can't stay with a safety. I would much rather watch him blitz than trail a TE or RB.

As for Jones, I don't quite understand all the love he gets, but once again, I don't root against him - I just don't think he does anything special. He should be a beast over the middle with his body size, but that's where Finley plays. James Jones is a luxury if anything, but Cobb is going to take his production away.
