My opinion on the post... the Packers have only been clutch defensively one time this year, the same amount of times that Tim Tebow has been clutch.

Surrendering a double digit lead in the fourth quarter and letting the offense creep within signal digits and then making a stop at the end of the game is not clutch, it's called saving your ass. šŸ˜‰

If the defense was clutch, they would not have needed a stop at the end of the game to win it, as they did have a 21 point cushion with 8 minutes left in the game.

I'm not saying that it's a good thing we let them come that close to winning, but it would be considered clutch IMO.

Manipulate the wording all you want, the Packers defense is not clutch. Neither is Tim Tebow.

21 points up and 8 minutes to go, the Packers NEEDED a defensive stop to seal the game. A clutch defense would have provided it then and there, rather than letting the opponent pass down the field for a score, not once, but twice within minutes putting the pressure then on the offense.

Basically, this thread has confirmed for me that the word "clutch" is synonymous with "overrated but lucky." For some reason, media types love to slobber over this kind of player. They might as well shorten the games to 2 minutes, since that seems to be the only part of the game that matters to most people. [boxing]

No one is saying our defense is great. No one is saying it's better to be clutch than great. Of course it'd be better if the D closed the games out earlier than in the last few minutes. I'm just saying that since our defense is not great, it's a good thing they can at least close the game away when their backs are against the wall. (Back against the wall = stop them or it's a tie game or a loss... backs are not against the wall if we lead by >7 points).

Lucky? I don't think luck necessarily has anything to do with it. As for overrated, I don't think anyone on these forums overrates our defense. It's pretty much known our defense, the pass defense to be exact, is not one of our strongest points. But they do close out games well. That's the point I'm trying to make here.

I was wondering how the hell my thread that sat for two days with no replies got to two pages. Apparently it was so bad it became the "let's argue about wording" thread.
