Honestly, when I saw that Tramon Williams was not playing and the Panthers got a big completion on their first play, I thought the Packers were going to lose. I really didn't start to feel better until they held the Panthers to a second straight field goal to make it 13-0. They had taken a couple of punches to the face and played really badly but were still within two scores. A few minutes later, they were within six points.

It seemed like almost every starter made at least one bad play today. It was just one of those games. There may have been a letdown after the emotional opening day win, followed by a 10-day layoff, and the absence of Tramon Williams was huge. Kudos to Charles Woodson for making some big plays in spite of being torched repeatedly by Steve Smith. Kudos to Clay Matthews as well for battling hard all day even though it was not one of his better games. That guy just doesn't quit. It seems like even if he had no talent, he would be playing in the NFL on sheer force of will.

Also, the run defense was superb. I think that's what set up the turnovers. The Panthers had to throw on almost every play, and it caught up to them in the third quarter. Let's hope they can play better against the pass from now on, though. The defensive stats are going to be a lot less fun to keep track of this year, the way things are going. I think they will get things shored up.

My gripe is the 3 short FGs by Crosby. Finley was an idiot for not keeping both hands on the football during his TD drop. Kuhn was inches away from getting another TD. I don't like settling for FGs and leaving points on the table. We could have been up by a lot more than we were at that point.

But our team and defense showed some resolve in this game and I'm proud of them for sticking in the game and coming away with a road win.

Not to mention Cam Newton ran one in that got called back for a hold. The game was much closer than the final score indicated.

I thought that Carolina really came out fired up and was aggressive on offense. Cam Newton had a tremendous first half. Running, passing, he was a one man show.

Cam froze CMIII and had several big runs. I don't think CMIII had a down game at all. I think Newton is just a talented guy that was really giving us grief.

I saw one guy post how Woodson was burnt by Smith repeatedly. Not sure how having two picks and a fumble recovery is being burnt repeatedly.

I give Carolina credit for really coming out fired up and attacking the world champions.

The answer is obvious. Because this is a team of professionals who make absurd amounts of money to play a game. Because, therefore, it should be prepared and focused for every game, regardless of the opponent. Because a sloppy game against an inferior opponent signifies a lack of preparation and/or focus -- which raises the specter that when confronted with an opponent of comparable caliber, the Packers will lose. No one is angry when the Packers are outplayed by an equal or superior opponent. It is the way the Packers unnecessarily shoot themselves in the foot that is so maddening.

So it's not obvious... most Packers fans are happy they won because

winning > how they started

Of course maybe those that care so much how their team starts should become Vikings fans because they're done great in their first halfs this season...

I think this game shows how we can win even when we have some hard breaks. Many of those losses by ❤ pts last year will be wins this year because the team can overcome some bad plays.

It would be nice though to see some games where we cruise from start to finish.

Being 2-0 is great though and we shard the division with ... the Lions.

Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Who knows who they're interviewing? I mean, nobody knew about Hafley and then out of nowhere he was hired
