The more Starks screws up in protection, the less he will be asked to do it.

It doesn't matter who gets how many carries, if the system works, it will be back next year. If Grant and Starks can produce 100 yards together every game, I would call it successful.

I may be wrong here but it seemed to me that Starks got all the carries when the game was on the line. Grant was running 1st, 2nd and late 4th quarter.

So they aren't putting the best players on the field in passing situations because they are worried about Grant not having the #1 RB title.... yeah I really don't buy that.

But I guess some fans think there must be something wrong with an RB unless he plays every single snap, except when they go with an empty backfield. At least when that RB is Ryan Grant.

It's not like they run the ball on every play when Grant is in the lineup. This is mainly a passing offense. Any player who starts at RB in Mike McCarthy's offense (or any offense nowadays, for that matter) has to have the ability to pass block and catch passes out of the backfield.

It's almost unbelievable to me how critical fans have been of Grant. Nobody's saying he's great. But he's good, and he plays hard. Now we have another guy in Starks who looks at least as good and probably even better. This is good. We should all be happy happy happy. But it looks like we'll be having these debates all season long.

I am right with you Greg.. and the below is a product of Grant not being an elite back. Grant is a cost effective, solid NFL back that can hit the home run on occasion. He is not AP or CJ.. and somehow Starks or another may be.. so it is natural that we try and force the bird we have in the hand out.. similar to last preseason in the clamoring for Jackson.. a couple games the new bird didn't look so pretty.

I don't view it as a one-or-other. Starks and Grant are a nice 1-2 punch. Splitting the carries will help keep them fresh into/through the winter months. If one gets injured, I feel confident the other can carry the running load required in our offense. So I'm pretty happy with both of these guys.

I was happy with MM's playcalling during the game until the last 7 mins, when things got conservative and allowed NO to get within 1 yd of coming back from a 15 pt deficit. I would have preferred seeing the Pack go for 1 more score (at the minimum a FG) and make it a 3 score game. As NO demonstrated, that lead was just barely sufficient.

It did take some amazing throws to do that. Throws I doubt the majority of the NFL's QBs can manage. And it still wasn't enough.

They are both really good running backs. I'm so exited to watch them the rest of the year.
