I went back and watched the first few games of the season, and here are my notes. Week one was just a good old fashioned shootout against another high powered offense. The defense played better than I remembered. They got some good turnovers and whatnot. Sproles killed us all day. But when it came down to the last play, the defense stuffed them on the goal line. An all time classic game.
FIRST QUARTER
Starks, missed blitz pickup
Collins forced fumble, Tramon recovers
6:29 Rodgers wastes a timeout
Packers 3 TDs. Cobb's first TD ever, looked explosive.
Saints TD, appeared to be miscommunication between Collins and Tramon.
21-7, no punts in the game. (One turnover.)
SECOND QUARTER
sproles, punt return TD
Starks hard running, great balance, including a TD
29-17
THIRD QUARTER
very ugly broken tackle by pierre thomas v bishop. shoddy tackling in general.
huge kickoff return for td by cobb. "the matrix" move.
followed immediately by huge return to midfield on subsequent kickoff by sproles
DL has been tough, stuffing power run.
35-27
FOURTH QUARTER
9:42 Rodgers wastes another timeout. both were in the red zone.
Tramon shoulder injury.
42-27 lead with 3:20 left. Saints get TD, DD nabs the onside.
45 yard line, FG would be the dagger. Couldn't get a first down to run out the clock. (Dump off to Kuhn covered up.)
Bush downs ball on 1, feet into end zone as he lay on the field.
Saints drive 80 yards, get a bullshit dpi call when Hawk defends a pass over Sproles' back. Pack stuffs the run with no time remaining to ice the game.
