is it possible that some people's assessment of Gurley was inflated if he cleared waivers? I will admit that I expected him to get picked up by someone else. But I'd also contend I felt that way mostly because many have talked up his abilities. I'm also happy that he is on the PS and am in no way looking to say "I told you so!" That wouldn't make any sense, either, because the only thing I've felt strongly about with regard to Gurley was that Donald Driver is a better option.

Maybe he looks like shit on routes sometimes that we don't even notice because the ball goes elsewhere. Who knows.
What I'm going off is how he has looked as an undrafted rookie without the benefit of a real offseason. He blocked 5 punts in TC, and got pretty close to blocking punts twice at Indy. He also was part of Harrell's game winning drive that day, and looked pretty good vs. KC, especially on that deep sideline catch where he didn't get his toes in. It was an impressive catch, toes out or not. He lead the team in catches this preseason with 9. Not too shabby for a UDFA on a team that had 10 WRs in TC. That, and he has rare, near Plaxico Burress size. If he continues to develop, he could be a good one. He has already been pretty damn productive.
Anyway, I'm glad to see him on the PS, and will still be hoping that he makes the roster later in the year. Maybe he ends up being a flash in the pan, or just another Ruvell or Joey Haynos (another guy who I really wanted to see make the team a few years back), but I'll be rooting for him to be more than that, because he looks like he could be.
Oh, and one more time, just for good measure- Best of luck to Mr. Driver too. I'd love to see him beat the odds and become only the second WR to play in the NFL after the age of 40.
