Today's players are much bigger then those from the past. In the "old days" there were almost NO players that weighed over 300 pounds, Now, they are on every team. And the size and strength of the WR's is amazing. If you took a man from the 1930's and threw him into a game today, i doubt he would fare well. Also, to take a WR of today and throw them into a 1930's team, and he's probably be on IR after one game, as they could just about take your head off with no penalty.
What i'm trying to say is, if DD gets the record, he earned it. And probably some day someone else will pass his record.
I just feel lucky that i was alive to be able to see Sharpe, Lofton and Driver play for the Packers.
Same with Bart Starr. His numbers are small compared to what Favre did here. And Starr was the winning QB in 5 NFL championship games. I think Starr threw only 156 career TD's. In today's passing game, maybe he wouldn't have been very good. But in his time, he was pretty amazing. Same if you tried to put Favre into the 1960's game. Back then, QB's were not protected. I doubt Favre could have had the playing game streak that he ended up having if he had to play back then.
But that in my eyes does not take away from what each of them did.
