It seems to me that if they were thinking of keeping five TEs and only one FB, they would be running more plays with TEs in the backfield. Unless they do more of that, they are going to have to scramble at the beginning of the season to give the TEs more reps out of the backfield, otherwise they will be forced to make major changes in the play calling if Kuhn gets injured. That's why I think they will end up keeping Quinn Johnson. To be one deep at the FB position would be too risky.

I think TEs and FBs are actually quite different. FBs are shorter, with a lower center of gravity. They can block more effectively in the middle, play after play. TEs can play in the backfield and block, but it seems like just something that's done for variety and to keep the defense guessing, rather than something that can be effective on a consistent basis.
