For me that would be a tough call. One of the questios I would ask myself is "would Flynn be good enough to win a SB if Aaron went down?" Assuming the answer is yes I would still keep him for insurance.
Why is Jerry Kramer not in the Hall of Fame?

Interesting question. Obviously a lot depends on how good Harrell looked. If he looked nearly as good as Flynn, I would say definitely Flynn should be traded if Ted can get something decent for him, like a third round draft pick. But I think it's unlikely that Harrell will play that well. I doubt that either backup QB would be likely to win a Super Bowl, although stranger things have happened.

I would be very skeptical of the caliber of the competition he faced. So it would all come down to what would GB get in exchange. I prob would not agree for a #3. I would prefer a 1 or 2. (If he is going to be a starting QB I think that is the min he should go for.)

Lets think about it in this context.. if we keep Flynn and lose him in FA.. chances are he will get a sizable increase in contract and very well may be looking as a starter. That would only help in terms of a compensation pick.. Lets say a 4th or 5th, maybe higher.

So would you trade up 2 rounds, based on a 3rd, and give up an insurance policy that we have seen step in.

For me.. I wouldn't take the risk unless the return is enough value to outweigh the safety net factor.

If Flynn and Harrell both look good this preseason, and based off Flynn's performance last season, I could see a QB needy franchise (Example Dolphins) offering up a combination of a pick and maybe a player to make a run at a Flynn and take a flyer on his limited experience. If Kolb gets you a 1st and starting corner.. whom knows what Flynn might garner.. he is younger.

flynn showed some good things against the pats, but it was only 1 game, until we get a player who is proven, hopefully arod stays healthy and we dont get that chance, keep flynn and worry down the line !!

No. Not good enough.

Even as good as Flynn looked last year, let's not forget he had 7 sacks vs 66 pass attempts. I know that's a small sample but it's scary to think about. I don't see Harrell fairing better. This is an average OL, by no means elite and Harrell needs regular season game experience before I want to see him #2 QB for us.

So no. Keep Flynn, unless someone dangles a 1st (which isn't very likely except from Oakland).

For comparison, here is what the Packers got in exchange for some other well-regarded backup QBs:

Mark Brunell: Traded to Jaguars for 3rd and 5th round picks.

Aaron Brooks: Traded to Saints along with TE LaMont Hall for 3rd round pick and LB K.D. Williams.

Matt Hasselbeck: Traded to Seahawks in exchange for swapping 1st round picks (Packers moving up from 17th to 10th) plus a 3rd round pick.

Flynn was drafted lower than those guys (Brunell 5th, Brooks 4th, Hasselbeck 6th) and has questionable arm strength, so I don't think he'll even be worth as much as those others were.

Harrell would have to look pretty good, including demonstrating adequate arm strength. Plus we'd probably have to get a decent pick AND a solid veteran backup who knows the WCO. Then again, if there's anyone who could pull a no-name out of his ass, it's our own venerable TT.

IF we were to trade Flynn (did anyone mention Miami?) I would like for Uncle Ted to have called

OUR BOY

Brett Lorenzo Favre

...and inquire as to whether the old man would be willing to come out of retirement in the event of an Aaron Rodgers injury and play QB for the Green Bay Packers.

That would be one of the most interesting phone calls in the history of the sport. God forbid Aaron goes down, but talk about getting right into the drama wheel-house of Lord Brett-

Brett Favre's final GBP legacy-

...Savior of the 2011 season. Holy shit, it's too bizarre to contemplate, so naturally, this is what will happen, as we (or at least I [duh] ) am talking Brett Favre here.

Just sitting here imagining the possibilities...

Aaron Rodgers could be Brett's mentor.

Teach him how to be an effective NFL quarterback...

I'm liking it more and more as I think about it.

Harrell looks good to me, from what I have seen and read, Flynn is definitely a guy that can move this team, and I am satisfied (totally) with hanging onto Flynn and taking the compensatory pick that will come our way when he leaves in free agency next year.

But IF he were traded, that's what I'd like to see.

The entertainment value of this next saga (in my scenario) would be beyond priceless.

how would we choose favre vs flynn?

would we rather a game end due to poor time management in the 2 minute drill or a stupid interception?
