I can't think of his name, but the guy from Pittsburgh, Jeff Reed maybe? That dude kicks on one of the worst fields in the NFL and he's stellar.

TT's vote is the only one that counts and he likes him. So do I and I trust TT.

I like him just fine, have been in the minority at times on that one, but you DO KNOW that the Eagles drafted the potential B O M B at kicker in the 4th of this last draft,

I trust Ted Thompson too, but at first blush I don't like this move. He's inconsistent, and I don't have a lot of confidence that he can make a kick when we need him to.

That said, like Tezzy said, he was better last year, and I certainly don't know of anyone better and available.

I am bit surprised they gave him a 5 year deal. I thought they would go with a 4 yr one.

But they can't afford to let the negotiations drag out this year.

The one quality Crosby has is that he never whines about the holder, the hold, the weather, the field or anything else.

When he misses, he will tell you he missed.

He won't whine about the ball being placed "on a yard line which is a little slicker than the rest of the field" like Longwell did.

Kickers get better with age (to a point) and the Packers believe Crosby is improving.

In 3 years who knows how high kickers will be paid. The Packers are gambling on price and Crosby can be happy with the security of a 5 year deal.

Crosby is an average kicker at best, but hopefully this deal is not too expensive. At least he's not horrible. The Packers have had horrible kickers (and more recently, horrible punters), and it's painful to watch them.
