http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/05/17/urlacher-says-bears-not-packers-are-best-team-in-nfc/

Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher says he plays for the best team in the NFC, and the fact that the Packers beat the Bears in the NFC Championship Game and then won the Super Bowl isnt going to change his mind.

I think were the best team in our conference, Urlacher said during an appearance at an Albuquerque elementary school. I know were not the Super Bowl champs like the Green Bay Packers. . . . We want to be the best in our conference and to be there, weve got to go through Green Bay.

According to the Albuquerque Journal, Urlacher (who will turn 33 next week) is in great shape and working out regularly, and he says the only thing the lockout has changed for him is that hes staying away from the Bears facilities longer than he has in the past.

Its a little longer, thats all, Urlacher said. Longer than Id like it to be. Im still working out hard just not with my teammates. Thats the biggest difference. Im doing the same program I would be if I were at the facility.

So just as Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk is doing his workouts on his own while the lockout is on, Urlacher is, too. And well all just have to hope the lockout ends so the Packers and Bears can determine on the field whether Urlacher is right about which team is the best in the NFC.

I said several times prior to the Packers beating the Bears that since the Bears own the division and beat the Packers, it's not feasible to say the Packers are a better team.

Then the Packers beat the Bears in Week 17 to get into the Playoffs.
Then the Packers beat the Bears (in Chicago) in NFC Championship Game.
Then the Packers beat the Steelers in Super Bowl XLV.

I think it's safe to say the Packers > Bears, unless you're Rex Urlacher of course.

Apparently there is no longer any need to play the games. You just find a reporter who will listen, tell them that you're better than team XYZ, and shazaam, it's indisputable fact.

I actually beg to differ. The Pacers have never won an NBA title (though 3 ABA titles) where as the Bears have won an NFL title. 2 different sports so it's apples and oranges, other than the championships.

He also says that Jay Cutler is a tough guy. LOL.

I wonder how he figures that one? They had to play the mighty Seahags and then have their ass handed them by us. That score was much closer than what happened on the field would indicate. I wonder if they could have beaten NO, PHI, or ATL had they played.

I don't get where he is coming from. Chicago had one of those charmed years and won the division. Let them defend it, we'll defend the real championship.

The Bears will be 2-5 to start the season and looking uphill the rest of the year. Their luck of getting teams without their starting QB every week has to run out sooner or later.

Urlacher is praying the holdout lasts the first three weeks of the season because they won't win one of those games. He better dig up the stat on how many teams make the playoffs starting out 0-3.

This is the same thing I said last year about the Vikes with the schedule they had starting out vs. the cupcake schedule they started with the year before.

Well Brian did date Paris Hilton at one point in time, so can we trust his judgment?

Can I personally thank Urlacher for giving me the best laugh of the year so far.
