Packers fans would argue with Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher, who believes his team is the most talented in the National Football Conference, but he does envy something the Packers have that the Bears don’t.
"Green Bay has awesome turf," Urlacher (left) told Chicago radio station ESPN 1000. "The weather we play in, they have the same."
Soldier Field has a natural grass surface. Lambeau Field has what’s called a DD GrassMaster surface, which is natural grass reinforced with synthetic fibers.
"We played the last game of the (2010) regular season there, and it was great," Urlacher said. "Look at ours, and it’s beat up and looks horrible."
Bears players, as well as opponents, have complained about Soldier Field’s surface condition.
"It is a disaster," Urlacher said. "I don’t know what else to say.
"We complain about it all the time," Urlacher said. "I prefer playing on grass, but the FieldTurf stuff is pretty awesome."
Soldier Field is owned and operated by the Chicago Park District.
