I don't think DakotaT in his ivory tower liberalism (whereas he accuses certain others of being ivory tower) gets this part. California gets the brunt of the problem. We got plenty of Nuestra Familia and MS-13 here, two gangs that whatever you read about them is not an exaggeration but you wish it was.

California is bankrupt because of ivory tower lunacy. We spent too much money on idealism, and that includes taking care of these idiotic illegals.

California employees at one time had to be paid in IOUs. Yet, the Governator was hated for cutting the deficit, something he had no choice in doing.

With LEGAL citizenship, there are IQ tests, health checks, and of course background checks. We don't want criminals. We want people who will WORK. I know, tough concept.

Am I angry? Sure. I've loved California more than probably anyone here loves their state. I've been all around this state and photographed literally thousands of pictures with real film even when I had very little money (and film and developing actually cost a lot of money back then). I've seen the deterioration, and it's not from the LEGAL residents. It's from the ILLEGALS.

But alas, DakotaT is too far up in his ivory tower to understand any of this so it will go in one ear and out the other.

That's one of the things i hate. Spanish is being treated like the main language here in America now. And it's SUPPOSED to be ENGLISH.
If i went to a foreign country, i'd EXPECT myself to learn THEIR language. I wouldn't expect them to cater to me.
If you want to cut costs, how about taking out all the governmental papers that are being printed in Spanish at all our government offices. If they won't learn the language here, how can we expect them to "bother" with coming here legally and doing the work to become citizens?

We made it MUCH easier to come here illegally then to follow the law. "laziness" will win out every time.
If you walked into WalMart, and you saw a TV you wanted that was $600, but you had the choice of paying for it or just picking it up and walking out, and you KNEW there would be NO punishment, who would bother to pay for the TV?
That's the choice illegals have. And most of them take the easy way, as they know they can get away with it.

Well there aren't too many of them anymore, and most have to sober up first. I've been called white boy in a derrogatory manner many times. I would think you have the same problem, or had they all been sent west by the time your ancestors staked their claims. My mother grew up in the middle of Standing Rock I.R. She got pretty badly beat up one time by some young squaws.

I'm just playing devil's advocate in these threads to get people to think about the other side of the story. We are not taught the other side in school. The victor gets to write the history books, but that doesn't mean everything they write about is 100% the truth. There is no doubt in my mind that the Native Americans were fucked, the Mexicans were kicked off their lands and forced South of the the Rio Grande, the Chinese built our railroad systems and were treated less then human; and on and on and on. We are now the descendents who have benefitted financially from this ill-gotten wealth. Do we owe anything back? The common opinion is that we should move forward; but I'm not convinced yet about that. Can't we just discuss it without everybody calling me an asshole?
